... and while we are all Browncoats, we have also developed into very different tribes, each very well established and with our own little quirks, lingo and group dynamics. It would be rather jarring to get these two top dogs to mingle on only one stretch of land (and territory that is not our own to boot).

Hiya! I didn't say that in any mean-spirited way, it's just how I personally feel. I do hang here sometimes and enjoy the conversation, but I also sometimes get an us/them vibe from certain persons.
Given Sarah's response to the toe-stepping apology, I felt that only emphasized my vibe. I read your welcome, and I am very glad of it, and I plan to continue to post over here when I can. But a full -scale invasion I think would be unfair to you all as well as to us folks from the OB (whoops, there I went with the us/them-- I'll have to see about that board in my own eye).
It's just elbow room, really, and the fact that I'm not a big fan of how to navigate this board, which is why I chose the OB over any other board. But if Haken does indeed have the room, then that would be grand to move everything, including the kitchen sink, over to here.
And this and the quoted statement was only my opinion, and not everyone's from the OB, and thank you again for your enthusiasm about us coming over! (and sorry if I bummed you out)

As far as resources go, I believe I still have enough left to handle more members and the increased traffic they bring. I guess we'll find out.
As for the navigation issues with the FFF.NET message board, I would like to discuss the matter further in another thread. More than once today people have commented on the unfriendliness of the navigation.
As a developer, I'm always looking for ways to improve things. I wrote the forum software over a year ago, and now, with the annoucement of the Firefly movie and the possible shutdown of the OB, it is a good a time as any to update things on here.

Haken has given Fireflyfans to everybody. Nobody owns it any more than anyone else, nobody is cooler than anybody else. Nobody is being "invaded" as FIREFLYPASSENGER suggested above.

Tzegha, no worries. Let's embrace our differences. I think you OB guys should come up with your new name, and all of FFF should now be called "The Sons and Daughters of Haken."
The only reason I never went to the official board is because I couldn't find my way around for the life of me. Haken's site was so easy to navigate, in my opinion. I also really like the people who come here. Well, I used to anyway, lately Kaythryn has been pissing me off, although I like her a lot, but that's another story.
I think the Fox boards are hard to navigate, and I am surprised to see how many people find the opposite to be true. I guess we all learn something new every day!
Does anyone have an example of "The Perfect" message board?

I wonder if (I don't write original code, just modify others' programs, so I don't know) Haken could arrange some sort of skin set up, with two different types of navigation, that people could set in their preferences?
I have to say that Haken's developer skillz have always impressed me, since mine are very tiny and he hard-coded this whole site from scratch.

I have to say, that even though I lurk here off and on, it's hard to read voices. I'm not familiar enough with personalities, I can't tell without the emoticons who is joking and who is not, and what personality clashes are ongoing.
But as for the nav, I think it's like Bobcat and John Deere. Once you learn on one, the other is immediately and iredeemably a piece of go se.
And while the gesture of redoing the formatting of this board is wonderful, I would hate to have someone's house redecorated for the new guests when the hosts are already comfortable. I don't want to put anyone out, so I'd say that it should be the FFF regulars who make the suggestions, and not us OB'ers. As you pointed out, 'Tash, it goes both ways, it's just what each of us is used to.
