Rue,

Okay, after a lengthy discussion with my doctor friend, this info has come to light: First, it's impossible for a pellet to migrate from the neck or from any vein to the heart and lodge there. It would be washed through, to the lung -- not liver-- area. Ditto a pellet getting washed to the liver. Can't happen.

Next, my doctor friend saw a TV presentation that involved discussions with doctors talking specifically about this indicent, and it is apparent that a pellet did in fact penetrate to the heart. The distance through the chest wall to the heart wall is only about 3/4 inch, per my friend. The heart wall is perhaps half an inch thick there, and a pellet could have either penetrated the cartilege and penetrated slightly into the heart wall, or bounced off a rib into it, which damage would not seriously affect the patient until the next day from inflammation, which precisely fits the description of what actually occurred.

My doctor friend, who is also an experienced hunter, did in fact believe a number 7-1/2 lead pellet could easily have done that damage at the 30-yard distance specified. Concerning the liver, which is on the right and close to the surface without much shielding from bones, the liver could easily have been penetrated.

The amazing thing, as my doctor friend put it, is that the guy is still alive. Had he caught the full charge, or been facing more directly toward the shooter, Whittington would certainly not have survived, nor would he have survived if he had been much closer to the shooter.

Pirate, Jeez! Amazing stuff...and I was joking!!

Yeah, I was trying to point out the improbability of the pellets 'migrating'. But I didn't want to be accused of being arrogant, dimissive, liberal, or any such heinous thing. I was treading lightly.

As to penetration by that kind of shot at 30 yards, it doesn't fit with ballistics tests or my ER observations.

Yes, the FRONT of the heart is fairly forward in the rib cage. OTOH, they said Cheyney had atrial fibrillation. The heart's natural pacemaker the atrium is located about 2 o'clock on the heart (looking down from the top). It is not at the front of the heart but more inside the body. For the most part, it is behind the sternum (breastbone.) http://cardiacsurgery.ctsnetbooks.org/cgi/content/full/2/2003/31?ck=nc

tion.html
http://www.tmc.edu/thi/sicksinus.html

As to the liver, it is located under the rib cage, tucked up under the diaphragm, unless it is swollen and projects downward. "The liver is the largest solid organ in the body. It is in the abdomen on the right side of the body between the diaphragm and the lower rib cage." http://www.sltu.org.uk/hbliver.htm "The liver is the largest intra-abdominal solid organ and is enclosed anteriorly (front) and laterally (side) by the rib cage." http://www.emedicine.com/radio/topic397.htm

This is not to say that shot can't penetrate - obviously it does - but that the penetration is more than superficial.

who cares if it was an accident , thats [sic] not the issue the issue is , he didn't report what he had done to the proper authorities, and he's covering up the fact that he was drunk.

Who cares? I thought you did. It was YOU who asked the question, "How do you shoot someone in the face and its [sic] and [sic] accident?" I was merely trying to explain how it can (and does) happen.

As for him not reporting it, I'm with ya. I agree that that IS the real issue. As far as whether he was drunk or not, the issue is WE DON'T KNOW! As you've pointed out yourself, he isolated himself so that he couldn't be given a breathalyzer test or a blood-alcohol test. Of course, as you've also pointed out, drinking makes you a better driver... wouldn't it also make you a better shot?

Quote:

and btw, your [sic] gross and pretty disgusting defending Cheney's actions , like I told another person I understand Cheney trying to cover his own arse but whats[sic] in it for you?

What's in it for me? Nothing. Nothing at all. I'm not trying to "cover his arse"; merely pointing out that in this country, we're at least supposed to be given the ILLUSION of a fair trial before summary execution. You've already tried and convicted the man AND the office he holds, and now you're ready to lead the lynch mob.

Why on Earth should I defend Cheney? I despise nearly everything he is and stands for. I renounce him and all of his works ( ;) ). Yet I still hold that even the lowest among us deserves the same treatment under the law as the highest among us. You, on the other hand, would apparently give him harsher treatment than was given to Holocaust victims.

Quote:

And you know as well as I that nothing is going to happen to Cheney, at the most in a few months Cheney may claim to have another heart attack( real or not) and step down (and I doubt seriously if that even happens) but Cheney and most of the Bush administration feels so very contemptous of us little folk, because thats [sic] how they think of us, as mindless children who are in need of their guidence [sic].

Well, not being psychic and all, I don't "know" any of that as a fact. Certainly not as well as you claim to "know" it. Will he have yet another heart attack? Maybe. Will he step down? Not bloody likely. If he did, who'd run the country? :)

I've got a scenario in my head of what would happen if Cheney died in office:

Secret Service Agent (to Bushie): Mister President, the Vice President is dead.
Bushie: Does that mean I'm President?

Quote:

Cheney I'm sure is pissed that he even had to go on Fox news and try to explain his actions ( to us American idiots) because thats what they think of us little people, who he feels so far above that he shouldn't have to explain anything to us at anytime for any reason)

I actually agree with you on this part.

Quote:

so why the hell are you and the rest of these fools of like mind sitting up trying to justify or excuse his actions. its [sic] pretty darn sad and patheic[sic]

I'm not trying to "justify or excuse" his actions. I'm TRYING to explain what I think may have happened, and how it may have transpired. That's the problem with crackpots; anyone who tries to introduce reason into the discourse is immediately attacked as one of "them", the enemy... whoever "they" may be. Since I'm not reaffirming your twisted little beliefs, I must necessarily be on the side (and probably on the payroll) of the Evil Empire. Your argument is tantamount to saying, "Cheney shot a guy in the face, which PROVES that Cheney is the devil." You are completely unwilling and unable to believe that even bad men sometimes just make stupid mistakes. And your grammar, spelling, punctuation, capitalization, and syntax skills are abominable and abhorrent. If you are what stands for "good" in this country, then I hope and pray that the New World Order gets here, and soon. Hopefully they'll have better schools and mental health facilities, since our current ones seem to have failed you so miserabl

A sentiment I fully support. If only Cheney had gotten that kind of impartial treatment. The fact is, at his instigation, he didn't.

Okay, I'm clearly out of this thread, but updating my position. To explain the statistical irregularity, Cheney was drunk. A small amount of alcohol plus heart medication can cause a large amount of drunk. He's recklessly irresponsible, but we knew that. I think it's high time that we let someone else take over executive control, but everyone knows I think that.

I'm willing to settle for a Cheney step down, and drop the idea of a Bush impeachment, if anyone wants to meet me halfway. I'd also like to hear a list of possible replacement suggestions.

Good for you. Glad you made money selling Hondas. As far as how "American" they are... well, pretty much as American as most of the "American" cars that most people tend to cite as being what an "American car" should be.

As for the NWO not allowing Detroit to build double-wishbone suspensions on cars costing less than $50,000, that's just pure crap, plain and simple. Detroit can put any suspension on their cars that they want to; they just tend to not want to.

I used all the arguments that "Honda is more american than apple pie", but that don't make it good for USA. If you want temporary low-paying non-union assembly jobs, without benefits, rather than engineering jobs and union jobs, then export of US factories is a great idea for destroying the nation.

Let Yakuza Honda build cars for Fascist Empirial Japan, or for some nation too small for its own factory (which must be very much smaller than Yugoslavia which had the Yugo, before UN/Clinton-Blythe-Rockefeller/Gore bombed it into the stone age).

I tried to buy an "American" car last year. I got a Chevy Cavalier, which is as good as a Honda (at half the price), except for the suspension. It's engine is from Mexico, its tranny is from Italy, and the rest of the car is from Canada, which is now classified as "USA" on labeling. I used to buy Camaros and Firebirds, but those are RIP, which gives the sports car market to foreign manufacturers. BTW, a "sports car" does NOT have Front-Wheel-Drive. No REAL racecars use FWD, due to its deadly design defect of loss of all steering at any speed ("throttle-off understeer"). FWD is inherently unstable, and unsuitable for sportscars and minivans. The power of brainwashing claims otherwise. Camaros were, of course, RWD. Somebody is sabotaging Detroit from the inside out. The engineers and artists would LOVE to build what the people want, because they love to compete, and love to buy their own products. But Detroit's execs are just as bribed as governors, legislators and presidents, and they LOVE NAFTA.

Amerika is DOA RIP, thanks to NWO WTO NAFTA CAFTA SHAFTA. For 10 years, American racing drivers and American racing teams have been locked out of the Indy 500. That's the same as as the NFL locked out of the Superbowl. The Indy 500 is just a scab race for illegal aliens. It's the biggest sporting event in the world, where the top manufacturers train their top engineers in rapid problem solving, such as double-wishbone suspension design (not that fake strut-crap by Honda). Indy's not SUPPOSED to be a spec-car series like NASCAR, but the scab cars are built to spec.

That's why I raced Formula Ford and F3 in England, which are semipro training for Indy 500 and F1. The guys I raced against are the highest paid racers in the world, winning Indy 500 and F1 championships. England is HQ for world motorsport and NWO.

Then Formula 1 declared that any US team or driver that competed in Indy 500 would be banned forever from F1. Now F1 races 6 cars at Indy and calls it a US GP. F1's mob boss Bernie Ecclestone is now the 3rd richest billionaire in Britian, thanks to drug-running for the Queen and MI6. Bernie almost went to jail for fraud at his car dealership in London, but sent his partner John McDonald to prison instead (my former boss).

In my personal experience working for several new-car dealerships in USA, only gangsters can afford to own them. Look at Rick Hendricks, who owns over 50 dealerships and NASCAR teams, but also lived in prison for bribery for his Honda franchise. In Tennessee, CIA kingpins own many dealerships, especially the foreign dealerships. They also tend to employ ex-military hitmen and convicted murderers. Cocaine is rampant as well, especially in management, as it is in all large corporations around here. Many of the managers sell it to their employees who are required to use it at work, especially in the restauant biz. It's a form of slavery and scrip, and makes the kingpin owners even richer. Burn out an employee and plug in a new younger one. Coke and heroin are

DT,

I apologize ahead of time for my off-topic response. But sometimes you pick words with sideways connotations, like this phrase in regards to Cheney: "it's high time"

And I shared your comment about dick's wad with some co-workers. It caused much mirth.

Though with one beer several hours before the shooting, I wouldn't exactly consider him impared. He would have easily been legal to drive a car.
