"I've heard the CW is considering bringing it back as a series, miniseries or movie for next season. Hurrah! For you who missed my message board posting, on Tuesday, Nate Fillion, Summer Glau and Gina Torres were seen coming out of one of the exec buildings at Paramount, where they are putting together the new CW unit."

UPN and the WB are merging or somesuch. Starting next fall both of those stations will cease to exist and we will have CW instead.

Yeah that's just a rumour.

Anywho, I don't know what the CW stands for but I think after it's up that the UPN and the WB will no longer exist?? I just heard that from somewhere on these forums. Not sure. I would also like more info on the CW, but I can't find any on Google!!

Ah! Turns out it's a CBS/WB venture. The C represents CBS and the W is for WB. I'm a little confused as to how this all works. I know that CBS and UPN are both owned by Viacom, but I didn't know that CBS owned UPN. Anyway...link:

I'm confused. Maybe someone can help me. Why would CBS own a competing network? Do they air different things at the same to time reach a broader demographic?

Why would Clear Channel radio own XM satellite radio? Why would any media giant own other media? To be even more giant. And reach more people/ milk more dollars from advertisers/ keep others from having a chance.

Viacom owns CBS and UPN. Time Warner owns WB. Both companies are merging their programming from UPN and WB into one network called the CW. Both UPN and WB are suffering from low ratings so it is hoped by both companies by merging the best programming from both networks into one will help bring ratings up and thus bring more advertising money to both Viacom and Time Warner.
