Hey! This is fun. Here's my choices:

Mal- Harrison Ford (the original captain tightpants and cause this would keep him from Indy 4. Seriously. Why?)

Mal, really- William Mapother, that guy who played Ethan Rom on Lost(cause he's Tom Cruise's cousin and he at least looks a lot like Mal)

Zoe- Michelle Hurd (Law and Order SVU's Monique Jeffries)

Wash- Steve Carrell (hey, we're capatilizing on success and he already knows how to play the weak one in a relationship)

Simon- Ewan McGregor

River- Winona Ryder

Book - Morgan Freeman (definitely)

Whether or not Joss would approve, is another question entirely. Still, if you read my "School Days" I think you'll be struck by some similarities between it and the "R. Tam Sessions", which Joss wrote and filmed in one weekend in summer of '05. So maybe I won't be so far off the mark that it would actually make someone physically ill...

Lest someone think I was saying JW 'borrowed' "School Days", I wasn't. I was simply pointing out that I had guessed what was on Joss' mind to a fair degree of accuracy, as regards River's days at the Academy. I doubt seriously he ever reads our fanfics. The thing with the pens, though, freaks me out a little.

I wouldn't suggest any crew for Serenity other than the original cast. If suppose Captain Tightpants and crew encountered another Firefly in space and got to be friends, consider this cast for the crew of the second ship:

I'm particularly fond of the idea of the very mature Sean Connery playing a shepherd.
