Sweet video! Thanks for sharing it. Like the song goes good with the western flare of the verse.

I love it to bits!
Actually, when I first thought about doing a Firefly/Serenity video, the only song that came to mind that would be a perfect match was... you've guessed it, Blaze of Glory
I never did do one and so its like I've got my requested video and didn't even have to put any work into it
Plus you made it a hell of a lot better than I imagine I could have done

Thank you! I can't take credit for the file size/quality because I was pretty clueless about what I was doing. After a bazillion attempts to burn my DVD's to my laptop as avi files (which Windows Movie Maker uses), I was pretty frustrated. I think I had tried about 80 million "free" programs from the web.
So I thought..hey..somebody else surely has gone thru this. So I did a google search and found the whole series was in avi format, but it was something called a bit torrent. (Something that sounded strange and mysterious and possibly a bit evil.

So I read up on what bit torrent was and decided to go that route to get the avi files. That took a goodly long time, and at first I was dismayed when all I could hear was audio on the files. But a co-worker told me I probably just needed a free codec (at which point I said, "hey, what's a codec?" and a long discussion ensued.) He directed me to a site to get the free codec. That was peachy because I could then SEE the files that took agonizing hours to download.
After that I just imported them into my Movie Maker clips gallery, made the movie, and saved it with the recommended format.
Anyway..long story short...I can take no credit for accidental file size/quality. But THANK YOU SO MUCH to everyone's positive feedback about the video!! It makes my day.

Thank you, Needy. That's so cool we had the same idea. I've been wanting to do this video for a long time, and the first time I saw Serenity in theatres I was hearing lyrics at certain parts. (When I wasn't hearing my own gasp of dismay and subsequent CRYING, of course. We all know the part I'm talking about. It's in the video.) I'm very glad you like it.

Oh... that is SO incredibly awesome!
Aweful neat how you managed to find a scene for just about every lyric -- that's some work right there!
(I think the sepia-toned horse riding and "everyone walking together" are my favorites. Nice work! )

Hey ya'll...I'm just tickled. I entered the Fireflytalk podcast article-writing contest and won 3rd and 4th place. My articles were read last week (Episode 21) and this week (Episode 22), and in this week's article I shamelessly plugged my own video, this one. It was weird and cool to hear it read on the air. Go check out the podcasts if you haven't!

there were some very awesome cuts on that! The flash as the music kicked in was sweet.
You definitely have an ear for the beats, which not a lot of vidders have, so props! However my complete enjoyment was spoiled by one thing (and I mean this in a constructive way so that you can make more and better vids!): the literal depiction of the lyrics.
I say this as a viewer of vids as well as an editor: it's annoying.
The vid had such potential, and I'm really sad that this is bothering me. To explain (and hopefully not sound arrogant or pretentious), song lyrics don't usually have the best story structure (unless it's a ballad), and a vid is essentially a little story. So in trying to match each lyric perfectly, the visual story is lost. Sometimes the stars align and the clips match the audio, but to do it for each and every stanza takes me out of the vid.
Song choice rocks, editing is spot on (except for a slipped clip near the end), it kinda floundered during the musical interlude, and I liked the bookends of the grainy sepia film.
Thanks for this first vid, and I hope it's not your last!

ETA (rereading this, I really sound like a jackass. Sorry! I don't mean to. I'm trying to do that thing that I wish people would do to me, which is be honest and tell me how I can be better, but I'm usually too chickenshit to do it myself.)
