Yesterday, I saw "Wires", an astounding fanvid about Simon's sacrifice for River. It was Love on a reel, to be sure.

Still gasping for words, I recall Hamlet's feigned love for Ophelia at her funeral:

"I loved Ophelia: forty thousand brothers could not, with all their quantity of love, make up my sum."

It was questionably true for Hamlet. But Simon made it a solid reality. And we were all there to bear witness. And we marveled at its wonder.

See? That's where Hamlet goofed: because it is neither the quantity, nor the sum, but the Quality of Love that fuels the Verse.

Simon showed it; River felt it.

Wow. We're so preciously fragile, aren't we? Little souls, big world.

Well said. Well said indeed.
