fun fact: the name of the bounty hunter is Jubal Early, and Nathan is distantly related to Civil War Confederate General Jubal Early (appropriate, seeing as he fought for independence)

I think Nathan mentioned his ancestor to Joss, who liked the name and used it in OiS. I can't remember if this was in an interview or in the OiS commentary, though.

this titbit is long-standing public knowledge. You can find it on Nathan's page on imdb.com as "interesting trivia." ...it just happened to get written into an episode. "Why's everybody fussin'?" Frankly, I'd like to know more about how a descendant of an American Civil War General ended up growing up in Edmonton, Alberta, eh?

If you can trace your family history back far enough you can find out some interesting things and some interesting or famous people.

I'm from a small town in eastern NC, am not famous at all but I'm a very distant cousin to Cecil B. Demille, the famous movie director. Maybe that's why I like movies so much.

...of course, in the case of Nathan Fillion, we all know he's descended from a Civil War general and, any number of us might actually be someone like that but... we just don't know...

...heck, for all you & I know, WE'RE related in some manner ...j'ever have any family from the eastern Baltic Sea around a century or two ago? Lithuania??... Ostpreussen??...
