Why a BDM sequel on sci-fi channel shouldn't happen!

As once said before BsG has some great graphics.

If you saw Atlantis did you people actually see the Wraith battle from the first episode when Atlantis returned? It could easily be done.

If you want to look at movies... Look at the BsG miniseries... that has some excellent stuff as well.

One that wasn't said... there was a movie by the name of Riverworld that Sci-Fi showed... that had some awesome graphics in it as well.

I would love to see a sequel on the Sci-Fi channel. Don't get me wrong I'd rather see it on the big screen but i wouldn't cut the Sci-Fi channel short. Some of there original movies do look like da-shiong bao-jah-shr duh la doo-tze, but what they did with Children of Dune was flat out amazing.

Preface: I would love nothing better than a sequel, yes!

However....

I wouldn't trust the sci-fi channel to do an oaty bar commercial.

I'm biased, I hate the sci-fi channel. I LOVE sci-fi genre, but I hate the sci-fi channel. They rank right down there with Fox executives. I don't trust them to do the right thing.

All IMHO, of course.

Heeeeyyyyy...everybody calm down. Do you really think that Joss would let someone put out a shoddy FF/S product? Fat chance mi amigos. Everybody take a deep breath and go back to forcing the networks to put FF back on the air. Let Joss handle the details, that's what he's there for.

Maybe a CGI cartoon? (Like in good computer games) That would be very nice.

Then just get the cast to do their voices.

(Granted, I'd prefer "Firefly" to return to live-action on TV, AND a movie sequel, but that seems to be hoping for quite a bit.)

Actually, Cartoon Network is making (or is it out yet?) a show called IGPX, which bills itself as "the first international animé," meaning that it's written in America and animated in Japan, simultaneously dubbed and released.

If ever there was a franchise that invited similar East/West co-operation. . .

Get Joss to write the scripts, then find someone in Japan (or China, since their animation industry is starting to jump) who commands their language as well as Joss does ours, get them to write the dubs, get a good animation house who aren't afraid of excessive detail, get them to consult with Zoic. . .

And of course, our BDH as the English-language voice talent.

I'm going to agree with MajorClod on this one. SciFi is the way to go. I'm thinking (6-part?) miniseries as a launching pad for a return to weekly episodic television, since a single two-hour episode seems to be the wrong format for Firefly (vis the BDM). Character progression takes longer than 2-hours to do, and that is/was the singular beauty of Firefly.

Zoic, as noted previously, are long-time friends with Joss (having also done SFX for BtVS and AtS) and to Firefly fans in particular. They are doing amazing work on BSG on SciFi. And I don't imagine pricing will be a major stumbling block. Loni is a quality guy; I can't imagine a little thing like money getting in the way of his participation in future incarnations of Firefly, for which he has pledged his undying love.

Besides which, as others have noted, Firefly is not as good with epic space battles. Firefly is about the characters, not their rides and fancy 'boomsticks'. Therefore, less SFX is preferable; but they should be done well when they are necessary, which brings us back to Loni Peristere and Zoic's special relationship with JW, in general, and Firefly, in particular. QED.

I’ll weigh in. As long as Sci-Fi doesn’t meddle with the work of Joss and crew, (Zoic and the other people involved with making the Firefly world) it will be good. Although Firefly didn’t rely on SFX and kick-ass explosions, cheese ones might scare away potential browncoats. Sci-Fi does use cheese CGI for their original movies, but Firefly has already established a look and Zoic has their back. The story, I’m afraid, needs longer than the two hours of most Sci-Fi movies. You know Firefly is more about characters and plot than anything else.

I like the idea of having a miniseries to get everyone excited before they (Sci-Fi) brought Firefly back to TV.

An international anime? Is that even possible considering anime is japanese animation
