Concerning so called 'Space Westerns', does anyone here have a fondness for OUTLAND?

One Shiny movie. Although having Sir Connery in it didn't hurt it. Loved it then and love it now!!!!!

OUTLAND is one of my favourite movies.
High Noon in Space? Absolutely.
But I think the term "western" doesn't fit for it, nor does it actually fit for Firefly.
"Western" denotes going West. Where the "undiscovered" (ask any Native American about that term) frontier was.
I would rather see it called a Frontier movie, rather than a "Space Western".
There is no "West" in space.

Cut 'em some slack. 'Taint always easy to seperate the classics from the dreck in a genre such as ours. And Outland is a fairly old flick so not necesarilly the eaisiest to find at MegaLargeRentalStoreChain.

Yeh Citz look at the props in Outland. I am sure they are Alien props. Especially the spacesuits. It also has that same feel as Alien. Aliens was 1982 and I also read (Starburst) that it was set in the same universe.

Alien was 1979, Aliens was 1986.
More Sci-Fi shows should be based in that universe, it's so incredibly rich and detailed and there's so much to explore...
More insane ramblings by the people who brought you beeeer milkshakes!

Oh, I am so busted! The reminder was a good idea. It's going on my list. When is my assignment due? I'm a bit of a procrastinator.
