I was just scrolling down this thread to add "Gina Torres" and I saw that AnimalMother had beaten me to it
My vote would definitely go for Gina. I think Morena could do it, and I'd love to see her in a lead role, but I think Gina is more the archetypal "Amazon".

Point of interest.
Lynda Carter 5'9"
Morena Baccarin 5'8"
The thought of having Gina be WW though, now that's also a good idea. The one word I use to describe her has always been "amazonian." She'd be a great fit.

When I was a little kid my family called me Don-Don. I suppose that's a common thing, nickname-wise, but in my case it has a back story. It comes from the old Dragnet theme:
Don da-Don-Don... Don da Don Don Donnnn...

I don't disagree on any particular point.

I'd personally love to see Morena Baccarin as Wonder Woman and think she'd be perfect. I just hope Joel Silver opens up to the "Casting an Unknown" that worked so well with Superman, and I hope will do just as well for Superman Returns
A lot of Joss fans would like to see Charisma Carpenter in the role too, but I'd much rather go with Morena. Although Charisma may look like the perfect WW, I think Morena is the better actress
If I had to go with a popular name movie actress, I suspect Jessica Biel would get the role

Not necessarily true. James Marsden has played Cyclops in all three X Men movies, and will be not only appearing in the third movie of that franchise this year, but also as Richard White in Superman Returns
Also, although The Punisher wasn't exactly a "Superhero flick", it was based on a marvel comic and starred Ben Foster as a supproting cast member - he's also playing Angel in the X Men 3
Needy. Male Companion a.k.a. First Boy Whore of Destiny

Morena would be great. Jessica Alba is hot but shes not a very good actress. Kim Basinger doesnt even make sense.

Good call on the respective heights, I didn't know how tall Baccarin really is.

All your examples are supporting characters, not the iconic titular protagonists. A better comparison would be getting Hugh Jackman to play Batman in Batman Begins or getting Tobey McGuire to play Superman.

Now, Jeniffer Connley would rock, but she's got
herself too damned skinny nowadays. Think "The Rocketeer". Remember when she had boobs?
Here here! I much prefer the buxom, curvy Jennifer to the stick figure version we have now. I realize that folks grow up and mature in their style and such... but come on, girl!

Yeah, that never happens. Oh, wait, it did!
Halle Berry, Storm
Halle Berry, Catwoman
I'd given some thought to movin' off the edge -- not an ideal location -- thinkin' a place in the middle.

Sorry to be the one to have to say this , but Morena Baccarin would fit perfectly as Wonder Woman.
If you ignore the television series of the 70s called Wonder Woman, and just focus on the 1940s, 50s,and 70s comic book versions of her, you would find out that Morena Baccarin has the look of what they were trying to create back in the 40s.
Ignore the comic books of the 60s because the feminists got all annoyed about the fact that Wonder Woman dressed so sexists, so the writers had her costume changed into a white pants suit set, which annoyed all the men fans, but after the 60s, they changed her costume back to normal.
When I 1st saw Firefly, the 1st thought that hit my mind when I saw Inara, was how much she looked like the 40s and the 70s version of WW. Later when I saw her In Serenity, I was certain that if anyone could be Wonder Woman...this woman was it, so I hope they use her.
Just a thought.
