Chinese resurants come out with a gong, playing a cute little japenese pop version of the happy birthday song, and the cake has sparklers in it.

My local one does anyway.

Oh, it won't be that bad.

What's so horrible about waiters singing happy birthday to you and getting free dessert, eh? Nothing, is what.

(Though when I was 3, my mom took me to one of those Carvel ice cream places for my birthday and they brought me a clown sundae and the waiters banged pots and stuff and sang to me and I was so scared I hid under the table and wouldn't come out. And to this day, I don't like clown sundaes. True story.)
