I saw the first one...meh.

Did the original Underworld make any money? It shocks the hell out of me that movies like Underworld and Hellboy (which I sorta liked) get sequels put into immediate production while Serenity/Firefly sits on the sideline.

Did either of those movies bring in the revenue of Serenity (theatre + DVD sales)...no way...very confusing.

Underworld was pitched and bought as a trilogy (DVD Extra interview with Len Wiseman). So we can expect one more out of Underworld!verse.

I actually liked it. Not ashamed to admit it.

Well I just loved the fact that it completely defied expectation, after all of the vampire and werewolf movies out there it was a refreshing change. Even Joss never had a supernatural character like Lucian, his motivation was completely real in all possible ways, his personality perfectly presented, his goals in a way that fit the two perfectly, and yet none of it was cliché nor was it expected.

Of course in the mythology of the movie Lucian isn’t supernatural, but you know what I mean.

A little warning to those of you who saw the first movie and are going to the new one:

There are no werewolves acting on their own. There are some in the movie, but they never so much as utter a single word.

The first movie was the state of the world and the catalyst for change. This one is about the Corvenus clan. The next one, I assume, will be about what that change results in.

I only saw the first movie yesterday, and that was by chance. My friends were going to see the sequal in the theater, so they watched the first one while eating chinese . I pretty much suffered through most of the movie, mostly because I was forbidon to make fun of it (my friends know me very well). The thing I couldn't wrap my head around the most, though was calling werewolves "lichens." What the flipping hell was that about?!!! I know some pretty stupid people, living at college and all, and I think even they could tell the difference between a man-wolf and a moss that grows on rocks.

Actually, I remeber my friends telling me that "lichen" was the latin equivalent for werewolf. They thought if people kept saying werewolf again and again, it would get annoying. That logic doesnn't follow; lichen is even more annoying, especially when the heros are being chased and they say something like "Look out! It's a lichen!" and I think to myself "No, you stupid , it's a WEREWOLF!!!

Thought this was as good as the original. Thought Kate Beckinsale is exquisite.
Thought it pushed the story along well, while not really showing where the next would go.

I loved Serenity, but came out of it feeling drained. Came out of Underworld feeling pumped. Different movies, different so completely that they shouldn't ever be compared.

I just feel that by comparing stuff without ever seeing it, is not only stupid, it's sad.
