I was just wondering: for Keep Flyin' (which promises to be pretty darn shiny), how much money should I have on hand? (I'll print out copies of the sheets you made, with $2,400 -- nine $100 and three $500.) I would expect two to four players, if that's useful information.

The last 4 player game I played, near had everyone at $5000 at the end (cuz everyone played nice ...wtf? LOL), so I would expect at least 6 pages of money, or you could just grab Monopoly money and save ink and paper, but it wouldn't be as shiny!

And on a side note, I LOVE the "This Land" expansion pack. Dinosaurs...what a perfect addition!

Well, I had to pay tribute to my favorite character! Wait until you see BWAH! The Violence Ensues! It is based off the BDM, and is shaping up mighty nice! You'll be able to combine it with the original BWAH! but it is a stand alone game (and that would be a blue metric f***ton of cards in one deck! but you can combine...)

You're welcome! It is what I can offer to the Firefly community. In all honesty, if I could sell them (as in a professional product) I would, but something about a $12000 fee just for the rights bites my pee goo...it is easier just to design 'em and let everyone print what they want.

Sorry, Dad. The Independents attacked us with dinosaurs.

Hrm...until I saw that typed, I never realized how funny it would look on a t-shirt to fans and non-fans alike. I think I have something else new to add to the 'Verse!

Thanks again for the interest in my games! Feel free to email me directly if you ever have any questions, concerns or ideas!

Thank you for such a thoughtful reply! I checked out your CafePress items. Very shiny. Just a couple questions:

Q: What is the difference between "Press Kit" designs and their "standard" counterparts?

Q: (This one's in regards to the card games.)What kind of paper (gloss or matte, photo, card stock,...?) would you recommend for some good-looking cards for the card games? (And for that matter, game boards, tokens, and money?)

The press kit TG Freight is the color of the sticker from the original Firefly Press Kit. The tan version, is how it appears in the show, that believe it or not, I painstakingly recreated by hand (and looking back, that was dumb!)

As for the Blue Sun logo, the press kit had different Chinese than what they used in the show on things like Jayne's shirt, the Cry Baby and the Blue Sun Cola ad on the Space Bazaar in "The Message"

My BWAH! cards are printed up on double-sided gloss card stock (kinda expensive), but I have seen them printed on regular card stock and they look just fine (in both cases I recommend card sleeves from your local game store). If you don't want to spend money on the card sleeves and/or use too much ink (or cost to have printing on the backs), print all the cards in greyscale and use white cardstock for the Action cards(and use highlighters to color the borders of the different types of cards, such as yellow for normal action cards, blue for weapons/cover/prison, green for clothing/headgear, and leave the BWAH! action cards alone), lightblue cardstock for the Episode cards, pink cardstock for the character cards and lightgreen cardstock for the profession cards (this of course, is impossible with the THIS LAND expansion w/o printing it 3 times; shame on me ). Print the health tracks as seperate cards and your done! I know, a serious contrivance, but a little elbow grease can save you credits if it matters to you. In the end, the best way would be to print them up (however you want), single-sided (print your health tracks seperate instead of on the character card backs), and put them in colored card sleeves (this keeps them nice and makes shuffling easier ). You can even then use yellow-backed sleeves for the Action Cards, red-backed for professions, blue-backed for Episodes and whatever else for characters/health tracks (clear is good if you print these double-sided).

As for the other games, gloss is twice as nice as anything else, especially for Keep Flyin', but you can print them on almost anything and have fun. Hard Burn and Bamboo Dragon cards are cheap and printer friendly.

Keep flyin' is color intensive, and you may want to have it printed at Office Max or Kinko's or something, especially the board. The money can be printed on any kind of paper (though cardstock makes it VERY bulky).

Big Damn Heroes...just be sure to have at least cardstock for the pieces (makes them easier to manipulate).

Hope than helps! (albeit longwinded help )

I've been looking for double-sided gloss card stock for ages now. (Or a few weeks. Whatever.) Any thoughts on where I could find it? I don't know for sure that such expensive paper is in my budget, but I'd REALLY like to check it out. The closest thing I've found is double-sided gloss flyer paper (nowhere near the weight of card stock), and while I think I could "self-laminate" it with a heavy laminate stock, I think the stuff you suggested would be my best bet.

One more question: Is the double-sided gloss card stock printable on a laser printer? I have a really fantastic printer, but if I can't do it laser, I can always have 'em printed. (Just curious as to my options, is all.)

Well, I guess maybe what I use isn't "cardstock" per se, but I get it from Office Max (my wife works there so I always know when they are having sales! ), and it is the heaviest double sided gloss laser printer paper they have. Is just fine for laser print picture quality, and just heavy enough, that if you don't want to sleeve or laminate the cards, they still shuffle well and you can't see through the cards (especially if you print the backs).

As for laminating, I suggest you just go to the local card/game/hobby store and get card sleeves. While it isn't cheaper, looks nicer, and if you ever grow bored with my card games (shyeah, right! ) you can reuse them for something else.

Alot of trial and error went into this, and still it isn't perfect (as you'll see when I release the Serenity version of BWAH!), but lessons were learned in how I designed my cards (it is, after all, my first card game made for public consumption!), which is evident in how I designed my Hard Burn and Bamboo Dragon cards (simpler & less printer intensive, though BWAH!, while going through a facelift this time around, will always be a workload for a printer 'cuz that's my baby!).

Hope that helps! And thanks again for the interest in my labors of love!

IT'S FINALLY HERE!

BWAH! Can't Stop The Signal

This is a stand-alone version of BWAH! based off the BDM. It contains all new character, action and profession cards!

However, you CAN combine it with the original BWAH! to make, what I call, BIG DAMN BWAH! as it is 100% compatible with the original.

Download it for free today at:

MORE NEW!

RISE AGAIN: Honest Brawls Between Folk
download it at: http://www.savefile.com/files/7291042

Rise Again is a quick brawlin' game for 2 to 6 players. If you've ever played Kung Fu Fighting by Slugfest Games, you know how this game will work.

Basically everyone at the table is involved in a terrible brawl, and last (wo)man standing has the braggin' rights! Use Weapons or just Punch, Kick, Throw, and Trip your opponents until they are out of Guts. Of course, they are trying to do the same to you! Enhance your attacks to become "Gorram Kicks" or "Ruttin' Punches" or even hit someone with a "No Power in the 'Verse Can Stop It Pool Cue Attack"!

You can improve your attack damage by assuming various sterotypes from a Firefly Captain to a Furious Cannibal, Psychic Fugitive or even become the Hero of Canton!

Around these parts, we've dubbed it Mini-Bwah!

I hope you like it as much as we do, and as much as I liked makin' it!

Rise Again!
