I didnt notice it. But then again I hate the Beatles. Nice catch though, I never would have gotten that.

Apparently I have a bad habit of doing that, in an answer to "what's this world coming too?" Ya, I know, I had to play it for my friend before she fully believed me. I also know people who still think it's spelled "Beetles."

I did in fact notice. To be perfectly honest, it never occured to me that anyone wouldn't catch the reference [as well they should, considering how Joss probably had to pay Michael Jackson royalties for it.]
I am more impressed by the concept that the Beatles have become traditional music to the denizens of the 'verse, much as Bach or Mozart are to us. It's doubtful that Mal or Wash could name a Beatle if asked.

I wondered why Joss specifically referenced the Beatles in the visual companion. I totally missed that quote. I like the Beatles well enough, but don't know the songs very well.
I also missed the AC/DC quote from Aliens. I always wondered why Hudson said that.

Revolver is awesome! It has some of their best work on it for sure. But Abbey Road is my all-time fave (I think... I love love love the White Album too!)
Somewhere in my family's repertoire we have bootleg recording sessions of 'She Came in Through the Bathroom Window' and 'I, Me, Mine' and 'I'm Only Sleeping'. And I can't seem to ever resist 'Maxwell's Silver Hammer'.
While technically speaking, Abbey Road is the last album, I never could bring myself to purchase Let It Be. I identify it with their last concert and it still... a lifetime later... makes me too sad. John Lennon may just be the closest I ever got to something religious!
Anyhow...I don't care so much about feeling old here... I'm more pleased to see that Joss, again, has hit on something that many generations can discuss and re-discover! Kuddos to us all!

Wholly agree with everything you said, except that I tend to agree with George Martin regarding "The White Album", that it probably should've been a single album, and not a double, putting only the best material on it.
As a bassist, I'm awed by "Abbey Road" (from which I learned to play nearly every song). The vocal harmonies are incredible. And I could recognize a George Harrison guitar riff anywhere.

Yeah, "Let It Be" was recorded before "Abbey Road", but released much later (go figure). "Abbey Road" would've been a much better swan song that "Let It Be". There was major mismanagement there, which is understandable, considering they were in the midst of a bitter break-up.
BTW, I just made an analogy betweent the Beatles and "Firefly" in the LET IT GO thread which I think is fitting, given the huge fan desire to see the "Firefly" team reunited much in the same way we were clamoring for a Beatles' reunion until it was physically no longer possible.

It's true, the White album probably would have been better with just the gems on one album instead of two. But then we wouldn't have become familiar with some of the stranger additions like Revolution #9! I'm a big fan of Piggies and Why Don't We Do It In The Road too... So, I guess I'm just glad for access to all that they've done :)
