You're very welcome. If you haven't seen it yet, here's a Firefly-only wiki:

Jonas, I had the same issue. I dont think it's the download. I tried on TWO seperate PC's and only got the sound on the one session. I even asked three online buddies to watch them, two had sound and one also had the same problem as you did. Then I tried my Mac and was able to watch all 5 clips with the sound intact. Maybe you need to install a updated version of QT or Real Player. Hope that helps.

Thanks. I'll try updating Quicktime. It's pathetic I've had the same version for years.

Yep. That seems to be the fix. Updating quicktime got sound for me.

I seriously resent apple bundling quicktime with itunes now though. I DON'T need or WANT that on my PC thank-you-very-much... Had to go in and rip itunes back out after quicktime was updated.

There are problems with some of the copies out there. The single file available via the previously-mentioned session416.com website (not the mirrors page there, but the download link on the main page) is the corrected single-file version.

As for the questions such as "why?" see the linked file off the main session416.com page, which you can get to here:

http://www.session416.com/sessions_story

Meanwhile, why is FFF no longer properly sending me email notifications of threads I've posted to and indicated that I should be notified?

Now that I understand what the River Tam (RT) sessions are, I have a few comments. I used to run Linux, but am now using Windows 98SE, for a variety of reasons. Although I'm an old hand at FFF.net, I was unable to see the RT stuff because I didn't have the right "plug-in." The reason? In my experience, if it ain't broke, don't fix it, and I mean my computer. Without "flash" and numerous plug-ins, I have had zero, make that ZERO, problems with this computer. I avoid plug-ins because I need my computer for business purposes.

I have Windows Media Player v. 9, which works perfectly but does not run Quick-time movies, or anything with *.mov suffixes, like the RT Sessions. But, because I love Summer totally and everything she touches, I decided to fix all that. Accordingly, I got an upgrade to my venerable but totally reliable QuickTime version 2.1, which I generally use to look at *.jpgs.

I got version 7.0 from Apple, huge download (with that WORTHLESS iTunes, dc4bs), because Firefox indicated it would work with W98. But it doesn't. Huge waste of time. [I didn't know RealPlayer would run *.mov files or I would have got it, because it has worked for me in the past. For all I know, I can get a plug-in that lets me run "*.mov" files on Win. Media Player.] After a huge search I found version 5.0 of QuickTime, which I got from a university source, but the download was immediately upgraded to version 6.0. Version 6.0 of Apple Quick Time for Windows ran the River Tam Sessions with perfect sound, for those who wonder. I got the download as one big file from one of the sources mentioned in this forum.

The images are all too dark, with much of the detail not visible. My monitor is perfectly calibrated. Windows Media would have let me adjust the piss-poor rendering of the Sessions, but that was impossible.

My raving has a point. Whoever was in charge of this viral advertising campaign didn't organize it in a manner that would be accessible, so far as I can tell, to a whole lot of surfers who still use the very stable W98SE, and the very stable Windows Media Player version 9.0. Someone screwed up, so far as I can tell, and a lot of people were not permitted to see these Sessions because of the format in which they were presented. That hurt everybody.

End of rave.

Try the VLC-Player, if you got problems with .mov

http://www.videolan.org/vlc/

After i installed it, i didn´t have any problems watching any Movie-Formats, except for Realmedia (.rm).

Haekeldrache, I got and installed VLC Player, and it didn't work with my W98SE system. I could play the first part, with Joss stabbed, but when it went to the second part, I got a different window, poor video, and no sound.

To reiterate, for anyone's benefit who has trouble with the Sessions, Apple Quick Time Version 6 for Windows works perfectly to play the River Tam sessions.

Imagine if they had run these as ads on TV. In that order.

Play each video for a month or so etc etc etc...who wouldnt be interested.

Kinda like the "What is the Matrix" campaign. Ptreyy crap movie in the end, but it worked.
