Have you heard of a BRILLIANT British artist - Lucie Silvas?
I saw here live about three of months ago....... around the time Firefly was out in cinemas....... and her song, Nothing Else Matters, reminds me of the music in Serenity (BDM). Check out the lyrics .....
So close, no matter how far
Couldn't be much more from the heart
Forever trusting who we are
And nothing else matters
Never opened myself this way
Life is ours, we live it our way
All these words I don't just say
And nothing else matters
Trust I seek and I find in you
Every day for us something new
Open mind for a different view
And nothing else matters
Never cared for what they do
Never cared for what they know
And I know
Never cared for what they say
Never cared for games they play
Never cared for what they do
Never cared for what they know
And I know
You can find mp3 downloads on the net!!!
I was thinking it could be made into a fanvid about Zoe and her relationship with Wash and with Mal. They're all that matters to her......
If any one wants to take up this idea, just send me a message.....

"You know what the first rule of flying is?... Love. You can learn all the math in the 'verse, but you take a boat in the air you don't love, she'll shake you off just as sure as the turning of worlds. Love keeps her in the air when she oughta fall down, tells you she's hurting 'fore she keens. Makes her a home." Mal, BDM

The looks like a cover of Metallica's song
The urge to save humanity is almost always a false front for the urge to rule. – H.L. Mencken

Yeah, it is, but in Lucie Silvas' version of "Nothing Else Matters" the arrangement is so like the music Serenity........
I think of Zoe and Wash everytime I hear it!!!

Wow -- SergeantX-- you nailed it with that "Strength in Numbers" album. It's on iTunes, and I'm pulling it down now!

Well, I think I may have found some good music. And the musician (Mickey Cochran) who plays it should be hired as part of the sequel movie's/sequal series' score (in my opinion). And if you don't believe me, just try muting the bar fight scene from The Train Job or the escape from the reavers in Serenity, and play this music. Not perfect (because it wasn't tailored specifically for it), but the tempo and the flavor fit well. Like a nice juicy stake with A1...but no time to get into that now. Anyway, here's a link to some of the music. These are my favorites...

I have a dobro, but it's a roundneck, like this one...

And I can't play anywhere near that good. This is what inspired me to get one, though. Hope you all enjoy the tunes.

For some reason, the soundtrack from "Oh Brother Where Art Thou" puts me in a Firefly mood.
Especially this track...
IN THE JAILHOUSE NOW (The Soggy Bottom Boys )
I had a friend named Ramblin' Bob
Who used to steal gamble and rob
He thought he was the smartest guy in town
But I found out last Monday
That Bob got locked up Sunday
They've got him in the jailhouse way down town
He's in the jailhouse now he's in the jailhouse now
I told him once or twice quit playin' cards and shootin' dice
He's in the jailhouse now
Yodel...
He played a game called poker pinoccle with Dan Yoker
But shooting dice was his greatest game
Now he's downtown in jail nobody to go his bail
The judge done said that he refused a fine
He's in the jailhouse now he's in the jailhouse now
I told him once or twice quit playin' cards and shootin' dice
He's in the jailhouse now
I went out last Tuesday met a gal named Susie
Told her I was the swellest guy around
We started to spend my money
Then she started to call me honey
We took in every cabaret in town
We're in the jailhouse now
We're in the jailhouse now
I told the judge right to his face
We didn't like to see this place
We're in the jailhouse now

Riffing off what others have said, I did some hunting:
Jerry Douglas -- a great Dobro player -- has got some GREAT stuff. His instrumental work really hits that Firefly vibe. Some of it is overproduced, and some of it under, but there's a sweet spot that really resonates. If you're an iTunes junkie, it's definitely worth pulling up in the music store to sample some tracks; the guy's got at least four albums up there.
