What we must remember

As I have been very concerned with the continuation of the series in some media grapic format (please make a regular comic book series! the thing sold out everywhere I went!!!), I have been tracking the numbers, here is what I have acertained. I will note where estimates exist.
Production: 39 Mil.
Marketing/promotion: 10-15 mil
so lets just say, to be safe, the movie cost 55 mil in total for all promotion, distribution and creation.
Worldwide gross: 39 mil,
DVD VHS RENTALS: 8 mil
DVD VHS SALES: 12 mil (estimated from whedonesque)
TV Rights liscening: Confirmed 3 million to play in 2008 on network cable.
Lets say this was it, the total is: 62 million GROSS.
Universal gets 60% of box office and, from what I hear, 70% of DVD/Rentals, so cut the 20 mil to 14 mil and the 39 mil to 22 mil. The liscening is not cut
NET thus far: ROUGHLY 41 mil. So, we are on our way, but remember, we also have to consider the following:
Merchandising: Books, comics, figures, posters, soundtracks, companions, RPGs, etc.
Worldwide DVD: lets assume that worldwide the DVD does in relation to what the box office did to us, so you can look on adding at least another 8 mil there.
I would safely bet that at the end of this month, Serenity will be just a shade in the green. With this in mind as well as fan exposure, universal could make a comparable budget feature within 2 years.
Think about it, I have shown serenity/firefly to a chain of people that, I have made a tree, 34 people. 3 of them were after serenity came out on DVD, and 12 of them are when serenity came out in the theater.
if everyone is doing this, we could see a second box office showing, domestically, at around double.

Yeah,
I posted something similar a few days ago. There wasnt that many people aware of Serenity due to its low advertising. But I know thats been fixed now. If they made a sequal I guarantee they would at least DOUBLE from the first movie. Theres alot more fans now. Most people I asked when it was out in the theatres never heard of Serenity. That has definately changed.
