Has this been mentioned before? Forgive me if it has - anyone ever notice how well close the resemblance is between the crew of The Betty from Joss's Alien Resurection script to our heroes? Saw this movie a few weeks ago and thought "wow, how close to Firefly are these folks" then realized it was written by Joss.

Anyone else?

Oh, yeah, I think they're DEFINITELY the rough draft of our crew in many ways. Some are very clear.

In the original draft, I think there's another member or two of the crew, bringing the numbers even closer.

I had almost forgotten Joss wrote that movie, lol. I see a common thread of the 2 crews, but not alot. The moral difference it what makes them apart though. I dont see Mal transporting body's for any reason, he does not support slavery of any sort, I find that cool. The crew of the Betty do Anyjob, regardless. Holy shit, I am starting to sound like a frigg'n geek now, thanx guys.

Joss thought so. IIRC that's the movie that sent him off to tv land, swearing that the next person to ruin one of his movie scripts was going to be him.

I seriously implore anyone who hasn't seen this movie since Firefly; Serenity to check it out again. The rapor between the crew, the captains protectiveness over them, etc. He definately had space pirates on the brain years ago.

Anyway it beats the crap out of Alien three where everyone is shaved bald and the critter is a dog.

Yeah, it's been mentioned before, but until it was recently shown on t.v. again, I never bothered to check it out. I liked how one can even match crew member for crew member, like Ron Pearlman (Jayne) Wynona Rider ( Kayelee ), etc... But what really got me was the bridge of the Betty, and how closely it resembles Serenity's. There are other aspects too, which speak to the very early origins of a Firefly class ship.
