Is that what the "Spike" in that poll meant? I had no idea, I don't follow Buffy/Angel stuff. I thought they meant for Joss to make something for the Spike network.

No wonder the vote was almost matching Serenity/Firefly, I thought it was just some obscessive people who hated the Browncoats messing with them. Heh.

Yeah, Joss has been hinting as a Spike TV movie (and ones for variouse other Buffy/Angel supporting characters) since Angel was cancelled. Lately the word has shifted to indicate direct-to-DVD as a more likely avenue.

"Well, my days of not taking you seriously are certainly coming to a middle."

Ok, I took this poll, and I only voted once. But in looking over the poll page, no where does it say you're allowed to only vote once. So if we are all to abide by these "rules" then shouldn't they post them? Warning: only vote once. Voting more than once will result in the poll being deleted if we here at SciFi feel the voting results are being messed with.

And even at that, like someone mentioned above, there is more outcry for this show than there is in the Buffyverse...couldn't it possibly be beyond all freaking reasonable doubt that more people want Serenity!!! DUH!

This is an unconfirmed (and I state again unconfirmed - it came from another board) note from SciFi.com about why the poll was pulled.

"Thanks for your note. We have tried to build in safeguards against fan manipulation of the polls. You're right that some Serenity fans had voted multiple times, but not to the extent of the fans on this particular poll. The number of responses was quadruple our normal amount, which raised a red flag. In addition, several readers e-mailed us detailed postings from various "Spike" bulletin boards in which fans advised each other how to hack our poll to enable themselves to vote hundreds and hundreds of times, which was also unprecedented.

That's what led to the decision to pull the poll; it wasn't really representative of what SCI FI Wire readers felt and was unfair to those who voted only once."

Gah...how stupid was that for people to post how to hack the site's poll. Well I hope that they know that the Serenity numbers were far more real and that what we all really want is more Serenity.

sigh

EDIT: Thanks for posting that Simon...

I want both a Spike movie and a Firefly movie, but I voted once for Firefly.

Because fans have manipulated the SCI FI Wire poll on Joss Whedon's next project, the editors have deleted it and replaced it with a new poll.

Why does everyone immediately assume they are accusing us? If this is all that was stated there is no implication we are the ones accused of cheating.

I think that people felt accused was because Firefly was winning?

"See, morbid and creepifying, I got no problem with, long as she does it quiet-like."
