Because fans have manipulated the SCI FI Wire poll on Joss Whedon's next project, the editors have deleted it and replaced it with a new poll.

Vote with care next time my over-zealous friends

this is lame and causes me confusion - are they not savvy enough to put in checks and balances to make sure people don't vote more than once? It's not rocketscience...

I am surprised too, that they didn't have a way to block people from voting more than once. I voted once.... happy to do it and was hoping that the results were accurate and that everyone really did want more Firefly/Serenity.

I'm sorry to see this. I was hoping that SciFi might be a possible home for the next incarnation of our BDH's. I don't like that this might reflect badly on us.

You can't. Cookies and browser cache can be deleted, dynamic IPs can be changed easily, registration forms can be filled with crap, java and javascript can be disabled, e-Mail verification can be tricked...

Personally I think internet polls are a waste of time because of their latent defects.

Then, if the polls can be manipulated, and it doesn't really matter, why should they care so much as to take the poll down? Doesn't make sense to me. If they know it can be inaccurate.... then they should just let it stay the way it is.

Why take it down?

Had they considered, perhaps, that more people LIKE Serenity than Spike? It's kind of obvious, given that DVD sales for Firefly and Serenity are way, way higher than those for Buffyverse products.

Jayne: All those years of preacher training, getting knocked out by one bounty hunter
Book: Oh, dont get me wrong. I gave him a hell of a fight
Jayne: Epic i'm guessing

Perhaps the poll result was not to F*x's liking?

Don't go getting all paranoid now, folks. I seriously doubt Fox bothered to go to the trouble of asking another network to shut down a poll on that other network's site. I doubt they were even aware of it.

And I think the fact that Buffy DVD sales are lower than Firefly/Serenity speaks more to the fact that it's a show that's been airing a minimum of 2 times a day for the last 5 years, and a full set of the series runs $200+ rather than $40.

"Well, my days of not taking you seriously are certainly coming to a middle."
