Thanks for sharing, FOXMUSTDIE, our stories resemble each other. I saw the movie on a whim, what a great day that turned out to be. I hit the internet as soon as I got home & found out about Firefly. Went out the next day and purchased the set--spending the rest of the day watching all the episodes. You'd have to know me to understand that this is not my normal behavior--nor do I become obsessed with television series. Obsessed is the key word here--and it resembles me--ha!
Since then, I've had may converts & have purchased ten copies of the BDM for Christmas gifts. Everybody in our family is a proud owner. My in-laws have my Firefly set--for two weeks now, and I'm having withdrawal symptoms--lol. Thinking I'll be purchasing another set and leaving the in-laws with the first. Seems they must really like it.

*Never judge a book by it's movie*
*The heart is an artist that paints over what profoundly disturbs it, leaving on the canvas a less dark, less sharp version of the truth*--D.Koontz (Forever Odd)

Shiny!

I'm not sure I'm going to buy multiple copies either. I've never been the type to buy extras, and I refuse to buy the BDM or the show for people as gifts if they've never seen it. I don't like the thought of our BDHs sitting on someone's shelf and not being seen. However, after the conversion...

Don't worry, I'm compensating by scooping up all of the books and comics I can get my grubby little mitts on.

Curse your sudden but inevitable betrayal, Fox!

Farscape was this way too. I'm really surprised that people aren't comparing Firefly's season one to Farscape's. Both came out incredibly strong from the first episode.

Brings up an intresting debate though. Could Firefly have maintained this momentum for multiple seasons? This is something that Farscape could not accomplish, as by season 3, it did not resemble what we had seen earlier (IMHO). We'll certainly never know.

So, does the bulb that shines twice as bright, last half as long?

"The last thing I want is that any of our descendents should look back in some years and despise us for not daring to act when we had so much capacity to act. We must dare to seek how, why and on what we agree. We shall thus be able to join together to look for alternative solutions and new ways of managing the world's challenges. Being diverse is our richness, acting together will be our strength". (Federico Mayor; 02-04-01;
UBUNTU Constituent Meeting).

Interesting, but pointless because it's 100 percent hypothetical. It's like talking about a city you've never been.

Causal said it, y'all. We're browncoats and we'll fight a battle outnumbered, underpaid, and weak, but we'll still fight because every day our ranks our growing and our spirit strengthens. We can win this war and get our show back, I just know it.
Keep runin' up that hill, browncoats. The enemy (ie, Fox) has lost the higher ground for long enough for Joss to make a movie. If we keep pushing I'm sure we'll beat them off eventually.

"You're losing the higher ground here, *Fox*"
"Well, I'm sure you *browncoats* and Mal will take that hill and fortify it..."

Keep flyin'!
--Mattie

Wacky fun!

What about setting up a fund like the Operation Browncoat to purchase DVD's for the Troops in Iraq?

Man that is a fantastic idea. We can raise enough money to Get Firefly and Serenity sent over for them to watch!

Blue Star Mothers already send tons of stuff a week. We just need to get the videos into their hands.

I think Right now there are more or less 150,000 troops in threater. They dont all need the video. but at a company level this could be achieved.

Count me in just tell me where to send the money.

The reasons the ratings were so bad on Firefly were:

A: They had it take on MLB playoffs

B: THEY PLAYED IT OUT OF ORDER SO IT DIDN"T MAKE SENSE! The first episode THEY showed was "Train job." So halfway through the season, all of a sudden, everybody's just meeting Simon, the Sheppard, and River has been in cryogenic sleep for weeks! It failed because of Fox's inability to be inteligent!

C: NO ADVERTISING! I didn't know Firefly even existed until I found the box set in the store after the show was cancelled. I watched Fox all the time. Now, I refuse!

FOX blames Joss for the failed show, but when you see the above, you realize that FOX is run by idiots

Fox Execs --- phooey!

I've been impressed by the number of people who've bought from this group ( http://www.cafepress.com/blood_love_etc/811178). But then, FOX has made it their business to leave a lot of people sore about the loss of beloved shows.

I try and console myself that they will, in there is justice in the afterlife, be forced to watch their own crappy reality programming 'round-the-clock for eternity. Oh yes, they *will* suffer!
