I just received the following email from Amazon in response to my query:

December 9, 2003.

for this item until it is available and we have shipped it to you.

I've forwarded this information to the concerned department and we
hope to update our web site soon and the item will be available for
pre-ordering.

as of 8-4-03 I can't pre-order the DVD from Amazon as it doesn't give that option......
