Battlestar Galactica (new series)
Last third of the miniseries (if you can call that an episode). There is this one quote that i can play again and again and again. There really aint anything spectacular about it, i just love it. It just shows that even in a situation where there aint no controll, you are outnumbered probably 20-1, and the whole human race is on the line - commander Adama just plays it so cool - and shows no panic whatsoever. This is the period:
Gata: Perimiter established
Adama: Launch Vipers
Apollo; Bla bla bla
Gata: Vipers in position
Adama: Signal Vipers - engange fighers only, leave basestars to us - execute.
Whoooo, chills! :)
Other then that, my favorite episode is Home (part 1 and 2). Brilliant 2 parter. Just simpy amazing. Have probably seen this episode 5 times or something.
Firefly: Objects in Space, with Out of Gas on a close second.
I have no other series that i *love*. So i dont know what would be my favorite episode in any other shows.

Book: Oh, dont get me wrong. I gave him a hell of a fight

Firefly: Ariel. But, to be fair, its hard to choose. I just thought this one had it all. Blue Hands...Jayne's doubledealing...Mal's interrogation. Just great, great television.
Wonderfalls: Cocktail Bunny. I loved the whole homage to "Time After Time"...Although, technically speaking, Crime Dog is the better looking episode.
Fraiser: The Good Son. Not many shows catch me from the start, and if they do, the rest of the show ends up being better than the pilot. This was not the case here.
Buffy The Vampire Slayer: Tossup between Bewitched Bothered and Bewildered, and The Zeppo. The first one is just funny as all get out.....plus, Angelus. The second one messes with conventional storytelling in a way I hadn't seen on television yet, and haven't seen pulled off nearly as well since.
Angel: The Trial. Angel has to try and save human Darla by undergoing three trials, only to find out that its too late. I thought this episode really showed the stuff Angel was made of.
Star Trek: The Next Generation. The Best of Both Worlds 2. Man, when Riker sticks it to Picard...he really, really sticks it to him.
The Twilight Zone: A Penny For Your Thoughts. Dick York discovers he can read thoughts, but doesn't automatically assume its a gift. Good stuff!

Babylon5 - Severed Dreams
Great music, great story, great special effects and the good guys win
Star Trek - (can't remember the actual title)
It is the one that is based on "Run Silent, Run Deep" in which Kirk and a Romulan commander have a mental duel. Most of the Romulan ship is shot to look like a sub and the ending is particularly good - Kirk wins but newlywed young officer wearing a red shirt is killed and the episode ends with Kirk walking discontentedly down the corridor
Sex and the City - Carrie's affair with Big..."but my heart"
Law and Order - the episode with Megan Follows as a mother of a disturbed child. She tries to kill herself and her child but doesn't succeed. Absolutely a gut-wrenching story and fabulous performances by Follows and Sam Waterston.
Seinfeld - the backwards Indian wedding

I simply cant get enough, and i love how they - as in firefly - focus alot about the caracters and the drama instead of just action.

I've actually never seen Battlestar Galactica - but I hear a lot of people saying it's good. When and where is it on so I might catch a few eps?

24: "Day 1: 11PM-12AM" The first season finale of this show is, I feel, the best hour of network television ever produced. After 23 unbearable hours of ratcheting suspense, you have a daring escape, a political/spousal betrayal of Shakespearian proportions, Jack breaking down TWICE in one ep, a shoot out that would make John Woo seem like a slacker, a parking lot shoot out that culmiates in one of the most suspenseful stand-off's ever, and to top it all off, an unexpected death that elevates the show from action series to grand tragedy.
Arrested Development: "Top Bananna" Every episode of this show is gold, but this ep in particular had that one great moment with G.O.B. in it that made me wanting more. "G.O.B. had not mailed the letter, but in an act of defiance, dramatically hurled the letter into the sea. This proved a more difficult dramatic gesture than he anticipated." And during this, you see G.O.B. trying to throw an envelope into the ocean, but it keeps blowing back onto the beach. It had me laughing so hard, that only later stuff on the show could make me laugh as hard as that moment.
Batman: The Animated Series: "Baby Doll" This ep to me really showed the kind of power the show had. Had this villain been on the Adam West Batman series, it would have done more damage to the Batman mythology than the Schumacher movies. But in the hands of this series, a gimmicky villain is given pathos and depth that still haunts you.
Boomtown: "The David McNorris Show" Right out of the gate, this show established that this wasn't going to be your normal cop show. But this ep basically took it's complexity to new heights while giving it's most complex character room to breathe, thrive, chew scenery and make every other "tortured character" look like posers. It's a damn shame that this show still isn't on.
Buffy: "The Body" I already wrote a lot about this ep, so no need to rehash.
Corner Gas: "The Littlest Yarbo" Anyone who knows Canadian tv has seen an ep of that dumb-ass staple "The Littlest Hobo". This ep lovingly blasts that show while thriving on it's own strengths at the same time.
Futurama: "The Why of Fry" Shows off both it's incredibly sense of humor, as well as the show's heart and pathos that THE SIMPSONS never really could access. "What is one life, weighed against the entire universe?" ; "(sniff) But it was MY life."
Six Feet Under: Any of the ep's written by Alan Ball. This man deserves every award there can possibly be out there, because he's the ultimate dramatist. The pilot get's us hooked in, his third season finale shows the beauty of flawed human beings, and the series finale is now my gold standard for series finales that all others will now be measured by. It is a work of pure beauty.
The Sopranos: "Long Term Parking" Adrianna's downfall is one of the most suspenseful and heartbreaking moments in this great shows entire run.
That's all I can think of off the top of my head. If I think of any others, I'll update.

Firefly - Out of Gas -initially the freaking out is going on, by the end its just the warm and fuzzies all the way to the tips of my toes.

Red Dwarf, episode you are thinking of is Quarantine. That's 1 of my favourite episodes. .just glad to see a fellow Dwarf fan :D
