When Simon, Sheperd and Jayne are playing cards River starts ripping the labels off the food cans. I am still unsure what that represents. Anybody got an idea?

Methinks there were a lot of Blue Sun logos on those packages.

Yeh spin i'll go with that. Joss whedon has a fantastic mind for continuity. For example Kaylee mantions the compression coil needs replacing in the pilot. She then mentions it in The Train Job. There's no big deal about it. Kaylee just mentions it in dialogue. Then a few episodes later the compression coil blows (Out of Gas). Fantastic observation in continuity. Yep Blue sun labels I'll go with that.

ALso love love when River talks to Badger in a 1800 cockney accent. Brings herself down to his level. Badger then says 'Always good to hear someone from the old homestead'. great stuff

The compression coil pops up again and again. Kaylee finds one in the junk heap in Ariel and in the BDM she finds another one among the Reaver skiff wreckage after they outrun it after doing the barn swallow.

I think that's over simplification. Sure it's probably why she says, "He looks better in red," but you also have to remember he wanted to betray them from the start. I think she saw it coming and didn't consider, "If I slash him with a knife it might speed things up."
