I did that a few years ago. I didn't lose any weight at all. I think subconsiously I ate more to compensate. The answer: diet soda. Once you get used to the taste (and believe me, it took a while), you just stop caring.

One more quixotic resolution: Force Coca-cola to bring back Vanilla Coke. By any, ANY () means necessary.

Yes I am.

But I took a nice, long walk and I've regained a bit of my serenity. (ha!)

Seriously, I feel a bit better now. And sweaty. But better-sweaty.

As for the false positives, I've honestly thought I've had some form of depression for many years now, I've just always let my excessive anti-social behaviour prevent me from bringing it up with the doc. I have this thing where I pretty much don't talk to people. Ever. Somewhere in the back of my mind I'm convinced that they really don't want to hear what I have to say.

Luckily, I don't have that problem on forums. Typin' ain't talkin'.

CMS: JH's right, the tub picture does you well; you do look a tad uncomfortable though. Probably shoulda brought along a pillow.

I'm not gonna tell ya that you don't, I don't know you. I know I do a bit, hereditary, but awareness goes a long way towards control. Just be careful, some docs hand out unneccesary perscriptions like candy. Some folks benefit greatly, some become Mr. flat affect. You know yourself better than anyone, do what you feel you must. Have those around you that know you, that you trust, observe and report to you if you end up taking anything. As for the not talking to people, well, I've tried talking to people, and I can assure you, you aren't missing out on much. I'm convinced most people wouldn't understand what I have to say. The good news is you live in a world where you can get to people here, where it's easier to type. Then go to Cons and meet them, it's a lot easier to talk to people you know, and when you know you have a few things in common.

I'm sorry.

It wasn't you, JadeHand.

This is what is was:

*angry dramatization warning.*

*disclaimer: I can be angry with you and still love you!*

Me: I would love to go to SerenityCubed. But however shall I buy a ticket?
Them: We're going to try to get one of the first 150 so we can go to the meet & greet. We'll get you one, too! And you can stay with us at the hotel! And if you come early, you can stay at our house! It'll be bloody brilliant!
Me: Really? Thanks! Let me send you money.
Them: The bank is going to charge us fees to transfer dollars into pounds.
Me: No problem. Let me send you even MORE money to cover the bank fees.
Them: That'd be great. We can't wait for S3. It's going to be so much fun!
Me: *grabs checkbook* *sends check Global Priority Mail*
Them: (two days later) We've decided not to go to S3. Sorry!
Me:

So, that's why I'm upset. Not sure what to do about it at the moment. If I cancel the check, it'll cost me even MORE money. And then I'll still be without a ticket. And I still really want to go. So, I'm pondering. Waiting for a solution to present itself.

Citizen & Jadehand, I'll agree that the forum does loosen ones typing/tongue. It's a little less... personal, for the lack of a better word.

I, personally, like talking to people. I'm lucky, I live in a farm town where I went to school and worked and did extracurricular activities like sports and such. So I tend to know most of the people I meet. Working retail helped me get over any hangups I had about approaching new people too.

It all boils down to self image; 1 part self confidence and 1 part not caring what other people think. As cruel as some may be. And be sincere, no matter how much you may bumble, it always shines through. Trust me I speak from experience.

Plus being a cocky charming bastard helps. I've come to grips with my inner a-holeness. 'Been called worse.

Oh and my 2 cents on depression... some times it's just plain boredom and not depression at all.

Ok, someone else's turn on the soapbox.
