The Flashbacks in OoG

Commentary on the series mentions rearranging the scenes over and over. I'd say the order of the scenes is not good to rely on. The chronological order up to Kaylee is pretty clear. The main tossup is between Jayne and Inara and my vote is Inara joined before Jayne.
My main reasoning for this is what Jayne says as they're coming out of Badger's place in the pilot - "I did not sign up with this crew to take in the sights." Gives me an impression of a recent event. He also mentions his cut - 10%, which in and of itself means nothing in the pilot, but combined with the flashback in OoG, the underlying meaning of the quote becomes "you offered me 10% to join." - also reeks of a recent event.

Hey all, I'm also new here, been lurking for a bit, but now you have touched on something I spend much time musing about. I always felt the flashbacks corrosponded with what Mal was doing. Whenever he was in a situation where another crew member would have been useful, it cut to meeting that crew member. But it was mostly based on the flashback to Jayne (when the other crew comes in, guns blazin'), and Inara (when he droppes the part and needs to find that last reserve of strength). However, upon repeat viewing I'm not sure it matches up exactly. It never occured to me before reading this thread that Jayne came on board after Inara, but that last post nearly has me convinced...
did I mention I tend to be a bit wishy-washy?
