Joss Let us play in the 'verse

I am just curious.
Will Joss let anyone else play in his universe?
I mean, we all want firefly everything, but i am thinking that this is something wonderful in this universe he has made.
I wonder 1) if there would be books released
2) will it only be about Serenity?

Think about it. fanfic writers...
Creating your own cast of malefactors on a different ship. Maybe even crossing paths with a certain firefly transport?
I am currently trying to write a fanfic with an original crew. I just wonder how that will go.

Lol, Joss is a BIG supporter of fanfiction and encourages it. So yes, you're more then welcome to play in the 'verse.

Now fan films however... I only know of one called Mosquito (spelled wrong but it's early) and it's a parody so copyright laws are a little less strict on that (something I've learned from the Cleveland Indie Film Club).

That's pretty much exactly what I've been doing with my Legacy series. It's based around six folk on an entirely other ship (called Legacy, thus the name), eking out a living and accumulating a new heap of enemies as they slip from the arms of virtue and fall into ignominiety (read; piss off the Alliance).
Since it's set after the BDM, I can dramatically take the plot wherever I wish, and since it doesn't focus on Mal and company, I can develop relationships completely free of the established. Freedom. Fun.
