This is a GREAT idea and what I've heard so far you are doing a fine job of it. I'm gonna lock down on this for a few days and if you keep this up, you've got me locked in.
A few months ago I was listening to echoes ( www.echoes.org) on National Public Radio - completely by accident - and they played a song that just stopped me in my tracks, it was SO FIREFLY (IMHO). At that point I said to myself Man, I wish there was lots more where that came from - and now you're giving it a good shot indeed. Keep it up.
Anyway, I strongly urge you to get this CD from the Hearts In Space label and put the song "High Desert" on your playlist - it was Perfect Firefly to me, check out the audio clip:

I'm tellin' ya, with twangy / spacey songs like "Clouds", "Country And Eastern", "High Desert", "Big Brain, Little Brain", "Back To The Light", "Outpost", "Arc of Flight" and most of all "Undeserved Ending", this CD is practically an honorary Firefly soundtrack. From a review on the Amazon page: "The effect of listening to the piece ("Outpost") is like quietly floating high above a calm but endless sea; utter serenity."

have left your radio playing all night while my husband and i play our various new steve jackson loot from christmas, and we are LOVING it.
since you're taking suggestions... the reaver theme of drums from the show has always reminded me of kodo, the traditional japanese drumming, which would fit with the asian tone of our 'verse. you could slap a couple of ondekoza cd's into your catalog. primal and thrilling stuff.

1) I have only dipped my toe in the vast waters of Chinese music, and my Chinese friends like romantic karaoke songs and western music, not traditional Chinese music. Most importantly, I can't read any of the Chinese labels.
2) "Business Person" is not the exact word to describe me. It's more like "Business Prat".
3) The Chinese traders in every shop and market stall love bargaining, and they are world class experts at it. So when they see me parking my bicycle to buy something, they start rubbing their hands with glee, their faces light up and they welcome me with open arms. I usually end up paying twice what the thing is worth, because I am so pathetic at bargaining, and because I don't have the heart to cut their prices down. Sometimes they even lower the price themselves because they feel sorry for the stupid foreigner---I told you they were nice people!
But I'll keep thinking about it, and let you know if I find anyone who would like to act as a buyer and won't lose all your money for you, OK?
We're all so lucky that you've been there quietly collecting that fantastic music for so many years, and now you're unwrapping it like a big Christmas present to us all---what an amazing surprise! I guess "Can't Stop The Signal" really is true!

Oh, yeah, baby, your Bruce Kaphan audio clips are full length instead of the 30 sec ones at Amazon - and therefore downloadable for immediate play on Browncoat Radio? That's the first time I've heard "Undeserved Ending", it really is a perfect blend of guitar with Oriental rifts that rises slowly and ends calmly too soon.
This album came from the Hearts of Space collection - maybe there's more where that came from? Worth checking out...

Check their "radio" page - this Bruce Kaphan "Sliders" album is listed under "guitar" along with lots of other potential Browncoat titles. They also have radio play lists for "Chinese" and "Celtic" space music...
