Safe - I must compliment you on your writing, you - as well as others of course - have added some great twists and turns in this story (I suspect if any other crews have done a similar thing, their's would have died down by now - but not ours - maybe we just don't know when to quit )
Good for you on devoting more time to writing. Even though I don't write as much as I intend to, when I do button down and write something (anything) frequently, it improves. So my advice to you is to write as much and as often (advice I really need to heed myself)
Even though I haven't read all of your Boros Bound fic - I read the first two entries I believe - it didn't strike me as something to be sneered at. I hope you continue it - and I hope I find time to read it all. At the end of the day, you may hate the end result, but at least you're writing, and it all helps you improve. Noticing what works and what doensn't

Anyway thats enough of me talking about things I'm not fully putting into practice myself. My problem is discipline. Really need to force myself to sit down and write.

Flechette - I'm terribly sorry for your loss. I hadn't heard. Even though words can't really do justice, I'd like to extend my deepest sympathies.
Please remember, if you ever feel the need to talk about it, all of us here will be here for you.

....

It feels strange trying to jump from that, back to the story, but I'll try my best. I've got Firefly and Serenity soundtracks playing at the minute so I suppose now is as good a time as any.

The overwhelming smell of glorious meat, as well as the rousing sound of the ultimate Christmas tune - "Fairytale of New York" by Kirsty Maccoll and The Pogues - wakes the unconcious Needy from his state.

At first his eyes slowly open, then as he realises he's awakening, he suddenly jolts forward - raising himself so that he is sitting up straight on the stretcher he had been wheeled in on
Expecting to find himself still in the chamber he is completely confused when he finds he is in fact in the common room, surrounded by decorations and tables set out ready for food. His fellow crewmembers are mingling with each other, laughing and joking... whilst one or two are tidying up bits and pieces to make the room look more presentable

"What... what's going on?" He looks around, shocked by how normal everyone is acting. Weren't we all just involved in a battle with countless clones, trapped at the bottom of a sea bed. Was I or was I not just in a huge fight, selflessly putting my life on the line for the wellbeing of everyone else so that an psychotic megalomaniac couldn't rule over the 'verse with ultimate power? Did I succeed? Is this party for me? Did I save the universe? Or did I fail and we are now in fact dead and in heaven? "Am I dead?"

Flechette looks over at him and laughs. "Don't be silly, my little blue friend."

"I'm blue?" Needy quickly replies back

"Nah, only kidding." Flechette replies, laughing again

"But I'm still... miniature"

"It's a party!" Serenity calls out to the worried whore. "Try and relax. Stop worrying!"

It's alright for her, she isn't a midget... well, not like me. Needy tells himself

"Don't worry about your current size," Flechette reassures "Doc's got an idea to solving that problem for you. You'll be as good as new soon enough."

The Doc! Needy remembered. He's evil. He was the one that beat the life out of him. He was the villain behind the crash Needy told himself, unaware that the real culprit was in fact a double (as always)
"The Doc - He's evil. He needs to be sto..." Needy is stopped midsentence as Serenity shoves a donut in his mouth.

"It's. A. Par-ty." Serenity tells him again. "Just shut up with your melodramatics for a while will you?"

Needy complies and tries to focus on enjoying himself.

....

Ok thats it for now - my dinner's ready. And I'm staaaaaarving

OK some questions I was just wondering about.

Are our little adventures set in the same 'verse as Firefly? I mean, is it possible that we would run into Reavers, Alliance, even our BDH's (and by extent also the new Battlestar Galactica verse)? I don't actually have any plans to include them yet, I just wondered.

I would start a new thread since this one's getting fairly long, but I think I might wait till after the party is over and more peril is introduced. I forsee plenty of peril in the distance, after all Destiny is pretty much shipwrecked and on a strange planet. Plus I'm pretty sure supplies are needed to fix the ship, supplies that aren't available on board. I sense a wacky adventure involving the (no doubt, strange) natives.

I did want to call the next thread "Destiny: The Search for Doc", cos I thought it sounds kinda cool - unfortunately Doc isnt missing yet, so it'll have to wait. Maybe "Forbidden Planet".

Anyway, might as well add a bit more to the story whilst I'm here

...

As the party starts to really get going - what with the music turning from Christmassy, to funky; and the dancing evolving from playful to dirty - Needy can be found standing uncomfortably in the corner scoffing his face with glazed donuts. Its not so much his injuries that make him feel uncomfortable, though they don't help, but the sight of Jayne teasing he girls with his strip-tease routine. Quite uncomfortable indeed.

Then just as Jayne's G-string flies through the air and lands in Amy's drink, Dr Me walks in the room with his shiny bag, looking quite exhausted. Original Kimmel looks like he's been given orders to relax as he trails behind his master wearing a glittery pointed hat.

Needy eyes the two suspiciously. He certainly doesn't trust them, and although he has been recently informed that the man that attacked him was in fact a Doc imposter, there was still something about Me he didn't trust. Plus, the Doctor and Kimmel was soon followed into the room by three beautiful women, dressed in revealingly tight party dresses. The beauties - a blonde, brunette and redhead - lingered around the master and his apprentice, obviously longing for a good time.

Needy grinded his teeth and cursed the fact that he hadn't got his own Chamber Machine to order a date for the night.

Safe grabs Serenity and spins around the room, not clumsy spinning, real graceful like. When he approaches Amy, he switches partners, and spins Amy around the room, switching again when he comes to Flechette.

At the end of Flechettes spin he spies a glum Needy. Safe give a what-the-hell shrug, and grabs Needy and spins him around the room.

A punch on the shoulder to Jack, warm handshake to Jazaf, a big grinning salute to Soul and a bear hug for Dr. Me, wary of any suspicious syringes of course.

MERRY CHRISTMAS ALL!!

Wow, it's always a shocker when I haven't signed in in a while.... as they say in the Sister Hazel song, "Life got in the way" (my favorite band, btw, if any of you are looking for music. They were big with "All for you" and "Change your mind" then decided to ditch a big contract and go back to being Indy)

Serenity-I just got your card today, what a wonderful ornament! I'm guessing you made it (it's an origami crane in really pretty paper with beads). We don't have a Christmas tree, naturally, but we do hang lots of ornaments over the fireplace :)

Flechette-Thank you so much for the surprise gift! (Serenity *chopsticks* like you'd have to spend 2000 points on over at the Browncoats site--appropriate, no?) I love it and my family is impressed. My sister suggested that I keep them in my purse and then whenever I eat at an Asian restaurant I can whip them out and it's fun for me + free Serenity advertising. Thank you so much! It was so nice of you to share your winnings with me. The generousity of this crew never fails to impress me.

Also, I am currently giving you a big hug. I have also lost my father. It is not something that can be easily put into words. I am thinking of you.

Safe, remember that I always laugh at your jokes? I hope that you continue to gain confidence as a writer. It is worth it, even if you never get published, you must keep writing because it's in you. Your stories need to be let out. I'd only recommend taking classes (ask at your local bookstore what local authors are teaching) because that will give you the excuse to keep going as well as helpful lessons. My mom is a writer so this is a very familiar subject to me. At least you have a day job :-)

And as for our party, hag sameach! (happy holiday in Hebrew) I'll flip us some latkes (hey, potatoes would keep well on long space voyages). This year Channukkah (spell as you wish) starts the night of Christmas (25) so we'l all be partying at the same time. I hope everyone has a splendid holiday. I am excited because I found out that someone bought me "Serenity". I don't know who yet, but I know someone got it for me. Yay! I still don't have "Firefly" yet though, if you can believe that. So far I've always borrowed. Hopefully for my birthday...

In the spirit of sappy holiday time, I would like to say that I have loved being a part of this crew. I hope we continue to spend time together, even as our lives dwindle the frequency of our posts and our crew drifts off to other worlds... You are wonderful people and you really have made my life better the last few months as I went through some difficult transitions and high stress periods... Thank you!

Merry Xmas, Happy Holidays, and a peaceful Sunday to all!

Wed. morning bump.

I got the BDDVD!!

Is it just me or is the series like Classic Coke and the movie like New Coke? Not that the movie was bad, just not the same... flavour. I was too gobsmacked watching it in the theater to notice. Watching the DVD brought it up. The same people I saw it in the theater with, watched it on DVD with us. The deleted scenes showed some of that old flavour that we've come to know and love but, alas, fell to the large butcher cleaver of Hollywood ideals. Still glad to have it though.

Hope everyone had a great holiday!

Holiday was lovely! Glad to be back here, though. I miss you guys when I don't see you for several days!!

Flechette-hope you're doing okay. I've been thinking about you and praying for you and your family! *squashyhugs*

Safe-I haven't had a chance to watch my DVD yet, so I don't know if it feels different from the TV series. I know I LOVE LOVE the movie and I LOVE LOVE the show. I didn't like new coke. But I liked that weird clear pepsi that they came out with many years ago. It was good. I was sad when that disappeared.

Bumpity Bump

I'm so jealous of you folks who have already gotten your miserable hands on a copy of the dvd already (Ok your hands aren't miserable, but I am).
It won't be released till Feb over here, though I'm not sure whether to get the Australian 2 Disc edition - depends if we'll get a surprise and have a 2 disc too

I would continue the story... but I'm not going to. I was actually gonna start a fic about myself - or should I say my online alter-ego "Boy Whore" and how he found himself on Destiny. It would be a prequel of sorts taking place at my homeworld then later on the ship itself. I've got a basic idea about where to start off from, so I might - like Safe has done with his Boros Bound fic - do add a chapter every now and again to my blue sun room.
Maybe if anyone is interested, they to can write a prequel story about how they found themselves on Destiny - if they havent already

Hmm..that's interesting. I never thought about how I got onto Destiny. I do have thoughts about my life before I was on the TREE, though.
