Would there have been a second unification war?

It might have been interesting to see the Alliance struggling to retain power with their stretched resources, but I would have hated another full out war. You couldn't have anyone doing anything about it as several members of the crew are neutral or pro-Alliance. And to have it as a background thing would have been weak sauce.

It would be interesting if we saw a planet that supported Independence during the war but are now accepting the Alliance. It may be wrong to force your values onto others but that does not mean the outcome has to be bad. We pretty much forced our values on many of the losing countries after WW2, especially Japan, it might have been wrong at the time but it resulted in something good in the end.

Look at it this way....
The Alliance in our world now would be like the UN 'ruling' over every country on earth. In other words, it would never work.
So i agree that eventually the Alliance would fall.
