Didn't worry about scars in Trash either. Too busy appreciatin the view
I did notice the scars in the BDM. They are very obvious when Mal's talking to Inara on the wave and you get the full on chest n pecs.

Hell yeah.
It was, ah, very picturesque.
Its really funny how thoss who offer an opinion have either thought in terms of 'well in the firefly 'verse...' finding an answer within the story or 'well, when filming something like that...' finding an answer in our own reality.
it would be really interesting to find out who of the post-ers are writers and such like, and who has more hands on 'crew' type jobs - see if it correlated at all.
Hmmm, back to happy memories of scenic views...

Hey, I'm more than happy to see a naked Mal, but the real question is where is naked Jayne?
I saw the movie first and definitely noticed the scars. After watching the Train Job I started looking for the scar from Crow's blade (which is obvious in the movie), but it was absent in Out of Gas. Maybe they just wanted a movie audience to get a better idea of how much Mal has been through.
I bet Jayne has lots of scars...

If you look at my sign-on, you'll see that the vital anatomical delight we need to focus on is the little green apple.
The only thing scars are good for is to give a soothing lick or three.

On a related note, Mal's browncoat doesn't have the scar in the movie. To quote Jubal Early, "Does that seem right to you?"
His coat may not have the scar, but his arm does.
I can deal with the "didn't bother" aspect of the scars in the series - at least they were consistent. What does bother me is the absence of a scar in the movie from Mal's gutshot in Out of Gas, which I deal with by presuming that the War Stories scar is actually the misplaced Out of Gas scar, and that Niska's "pet" was some high-tech torture device that didn't actually leave any scars.
