I'd been a big fan of the Uncanny X-Men when Chris Claremont scripted it in the 80's. I hadn't gone ga-ga over a television show since China Beach. That's it. So going bonkers over Firefly like I have, has been real surprising to me.

These are my other fan-obsessions outside of FIREFLY.
24-I've said it before, and I'm saying it again. This show is llike cocaine. One snort and you're addicted to it.
Bone- I think this is the first comic book mentioned here. This is an independent fantasy comic bokk that is, to put it in a nutshell, Looney Tunes meets Lord of the Rings. It's about these three cousins who are "Bones", that are these funny looking humanoid creatures. They're lost in this desert and they end up in this valley where they get caught up in this massive "fate of the world" battle involving dragons, locusts, rat creatures, lost realms and such. I hope that I'm not the only person here whose read this amazing comic.
Futurama- Even though my geekiness for this has cooled, it's still one of my favorite all time shows. The similarities between this and FIREFLY are too numerous, but it has its own distinctive quality to it. Where else can you see the Heisenberg principle used as a basis of a joke?
GARDEN STATE- I don't know if there is a fandom to this yet, but if there is I'm definitly part of it. Not only was it the best film of 2004, but I think this is going to be the film that defines my generation, like CLERKS ten years earlier. Everything that we are is up there.
Kevin Smith movies- I agree with the above poster that Kevin Smith is to movies what Joss is to TV. He'll probably go down in history as a writer whose work defined a generation. And DOGMA is cool in that it's sort of the flipside of BUFFY. A fantasy/action/comedy that's all for God, as opposed to dismissive of him.
I always wonder what it would be like if you put Joss and Kevin in the same room. I know Joss doesn't run in the Miramax circles that Kevin does with Tarantino and Rodriguez, but I think it would be cool to put The Master and Silent Bob together to duke it out.
Those are my major ones. Everything else is mid-level for me. Although I am excited for anything new DR. WHO related.

For me it started off harmless enough with Star Trek, and then later with Star Wars, and then after that, the original BSG. Then later I got all fanzied-up with Aliens.
Later in life I went through this strange obession with Audrey Hepburn movies, and then limbo...and this is where Serenity came into the picture, and then later Firefly, and now I'm all obsessed with the new Battlestar Galactica.
By the way, Inara = Audrey Hepburn.

SciFi Obsessions:
JRR Tolkien - I read Lord of Rings at least once every other year. Loved all three films, loved the extended editions even more. Huge fan of all things Tolkien, games, books, and movies.
Star Wars - Albiet the prequels have made me a far more cynical fan which is sad because the underlying theme in the original films was fun. The prequels are a mess. ROTS was tolerable and only partially delivered the goods. I and II are practically unwatchable.
The X-Files - Include The Lone Gunemen too. Own all nine seasons on DVD and the single Lone Gunmen season and the feature film, watch at least 3-4 episodes a week and have watched the entire series beginning to end twice now.
Star Trek - Not really a Trekkie, hated Enterprise, disliked Voyager - thought DS9 was when the series peaked, the best it got. TNG I also enjoyed, and most of the movies. Also enjoy the original series (most of them).
Blade Runner, Gattaca, Dark City

I'm a huge Sci-Fi/Fantasy fan in general. I haven't become a con/dress up kind of fan (yet), but I do have a Blue Sun T-shirt that all my friends ask about. Some of my favs:
Farscape: One of the few shows I've ever entered on episode 1 and stayed til the end. I was crushed when Sci-Fi cancelled it!
Star Wars: What can I say - this started it all for me. I was 7 when the first one came out. The beginning theme, the crawl, the Star Destroyer - that's all it took. I spent my allowance for a year seeing it again and again at the theater!
Star Trek (Original, TNG, DS-9 & Enterprise...Voyager not so much, but I liked Tom Paris) My favorite thing about Star Trek is that it shows hope for humanity...Despite how things look today. I really liked Enterprise and watched it from episode 1 til the end.
My biggest gripe was that the Enterprise writers could have done so much more with the series like introducing the alien races from the orignal Trek series but they did that whole temporal cold war thing! Uggh! Such crap! Anyway...
Tolkien: Loved the books as a kid, loved the movies as a grown-up!
Stargate: Atlantis. I don't why, I never wathced Stargate: SG-1...I just like this show!
Battlestar Galactica: It rocks! Great story so far and bringing back the Pegasus was genius!
That's about it....
Oh yeah. This little thing called Firefly/Serenity. I hadn't seen the series and didn't watch it until I saw the Serenity trailer in the theaters. Needless to say, I've seen them all now! Loved the show, loved the movie! Now I want more!
I forgot to mention Space: Above and Beyond. Great show! Died before its time. :(
Bring it back!

Oh, and I almost forgot. ARRESTED DEVELOPMENT. That show is like the FIREFLY of sit-coms. It's so far ahead of its time and on another level of consciousness. And GOB is by far the funniest character ever created for a sit-com.

Well, I don't have too many full-on teevee fandoms...passing Wars, passing Trek, Dark Angel (at least first season)...and science shows. Mr. Wizard, Beakman, Bill Nye, Newton's Apple, the crazy-haired guy who did the physics vignettes that are shown on public television...I've seen (and loved) 'em all!
In the games department: Magic and poker. Yeah, I'm broke.

what can i say i am B5 man that is and in my opinon probbebly will always be the greatest show on tv. i really like firefly so that is a very strong second place :)

Star Wars. I went to see A New Hope when I was 9 and never looked back.
I love Red Dwarf and have met Craig Charles twice totally by accident.
None Sci-Fi. I've watched Sienfeld countless times and off the back of that Curb your Enthusiasm and also Scrubs
UK comedies called Spaced and Peep Show I also watch constantly. You American guys I recommend you check these 2 comedies out

Back To The Future: Amazing movies...although 2 gets old after a while.
Love Hina: Mangas...NOT ANIME. The anime sucks. Also Ken Akamatsus new manga, Negima, is okay. Not as good as LH, though.
Programming/Modification: Not really an obssession as more of a hobby, but I will spend hours tweaking and pimping out my Internet Explorer or Battlefielod 2 maps. It's kind of the same with my writing, won't ever see me without my notebook of dark writings in hand.
There's probably more.
