All the flashbacks seem to be in order to me when I watch it.
Hey! You're back! And there's your front too!

Well, i am a recent fan of Firefly/Serenity. Just before join Fireflyfans, i said myself i must prepare a good introduction talking about me and why i love this show. But many have do before me, and i have the same reasons.
So i start here, with a (bizarre, insane, funny, choose a add a adjective) question who is, i hope in the good thread (there's many about out of gas), (yes i like brackets).
Let's start. When Mal make Zoe visit Serenity in the teaser, he said at a point "Yeah, just step around that. I think
something must have been living in here." Just after that, he continue his speech wich many passion, perhaps too much. Because, few seconds after, zoe look at Mal's feet, smile and have a short and discret laugh. For me, Mal have walk in the go-se of what "have been living in here". What is your opinion?
That's kind of details who make me fond of serenity. Each time i see a episode, i found new ones. The first time, i see OfG, i was focused on mal's speech, watching his face, and miss zoe scene. Perhaps, someone make a thread with second plan jokes (i don't dare for a first post).
Finally, it's a kind of "good introduction talking about me and why i love this show". Just hope, you don't judge my personality on this go-se question of go-se, event that's effectly a part of my personality.
PS: forgive my english, if it seems you to come too much from a border planet.
Yeah. They are my heroes (me)
Yeah. He's my hero. (Mal to Book, about Simon)

Yeah i just assumed they were triggered by what was happeneing at the time coz they showed Mal buying Serenity last.

don't forget that when mal says 'you are not the man i met a year ago', a significant amount of time could have passed from the start of the series, up to maybe 2 months. if that was so, then inara would have have been on the ship for ten months, and we don't know how much time passed between the hiring of jayne and inara coming on board. i don't know about you, but i often say 'a year' when referring to nine or ten months.
bt, i always assumed that the flashbacks were in chronological order, and that they coincidentally corresponded with what was happening. or, maybe his progress around the ship was a subconscious journey through his life on serenity, sort of a 'i want to relive this experience so i'll go to this room and do this'
sorry, reading that back i realise that i made little or no sense. my apologies.

Howdy. I just received the series box from my Brother for Christmas, and I'm totally loving it. Only one episode and the BDM left to watch.
I never watched Babylon 5, but Alfred Bester is also the name of a great sci-fi writer. His novel The Stars My Destination begins with a situation not unlike the one Mal finds himself in in this episode.

Bester from B5 is named after Alfred Bester

I don't think they're in order, I always got the feeling that Jayne had been onboard longer than Inara and as has already been suggested a few times I think the flashbacks are triggered by certain things on the ship.
