There is that. A lot of American ones are right-wing Republicans, too, which is worse.

Dunno how the American Military is, but the British military is very much "these are officers, you are enlisted, they are better than you."
A colleage of mine has a brother in-law who was disiplined for socialising with him, because his brother in law is enlisted, and he has a Captains rank as civilian support.
A little segragated really.
