For everything you love or like, there will always be some goons who will put you down for it, or they will act like they are better than you for it....it seems to be a human nature thing.
Last week I purchased 4 boxed sets of Firefly the Complete series for some last minute Christmas gifts for some people I dont even like, and the store clerk said "You really must like that loser show" he said this with a smirk on his face that I'm not certain I really liked. I think he believed he was being clever or something.
My 1st thought was to kill him right there in the store, but then reason took over and I shined him my best smile and told him to have a nice day and left, taking my business to another store where the clerks are more friendly.

I thought of that while I was there, but I decided that complaining to the manager might get him fired, and if he has a wife and kids, then they would have to suffer for the actions of this thoughtless clerk.

I think you are being very unfair. Smirk-boy has every right under the 1st Amendment to voice his opinion.
However, you could equally exercise your 2nd Amendment rights. A hail of hot leaden death is, on occasion, hilarious.
