If super powered weapons are allowed, I'd probably pick Darkseid's Omega Effect or the Green Lantern ring.

-Put that Vibro Blade away.
-Look again, it's steel, messy.
Vibro Blades are cute, and when well constructed can cut durn near anything.
But, they use Batteries, or the latest Sci-FI equivalent.
And right in the middle of the fight, a guy with a well honed straight razor will slit your throat.
True combat arms should be simple, and easily maintained.
A good honest knife, like a Bowie, has to be one of the most uesfull tools on the planet.
And you can use the hilt as a hammer. I wouldn't try that with a Vibro Knife.
Someone else mentioned Roland's Guns.
Revolvers are the most reliable, easiest to maintain slug thrower ever devised.
The Colt 1911 semi-auto comes awefully close though.
So, my choices are
A quality Bowie Knife
a quality pair of Colt 1911's
and a Semi-Automatic 12-gauge shotgun.
Oh, and one of the Highlander's Coats to hold the shotgun.
You know, the ones with the Dimensional Portal where Immortals store Claymores and such.

I'm ambivalent as to sniper weapons. I'm more like to use the scope to take a good look around (noting where all the enemies are, getting the lay of the land, spotting potential exits/obstacles/dangers), then put the scope away and wade in with my saber.
(Used to play Jedi Outcast and Jedi Academy [before I upgraded and my computer refused to load the gorram things
]. I'd make a personal challenge of avoidance, escape, and non-lethal lightsaber strikes [in the game, slicing off a hand "kills" enemies as effectively as decapitation or disembowelling, so it works either way. It's just a matter of accuracy]. Point was to get through the game causing as few deaths as possible. Dark Jedi being exempt --you draw on the Dark Side, you face the consequences, but the stormtroopers & mercs have families to go home to. Large-scale massacres are not the Jedi way. Made things a lot more fun & challenging.)
Quote:The Plaeryn Bol. A favoured weapon of assassins and spies. Unfortunately, it's single-use (though it's fairly easy to replace --not "middle of a fight" easy, but no real surgery needed), and its effective range is around a metre.

Quote:No, the Jedi (barely) managed to win, though the GFFA will never be the same. Isolated pockets no doubt remain, heroes are dead, and entire planets have been destroyed or rendered nigh-uninhabitable (Coruscant itself among them).
Did they ever win against the Jedi or what?

Yes, true, they need a power source to vibrate... but even when shut off, they're still insanely sharp, like any regular non-vibrating blade... so I'll stick with it anyway.

Gotta go with the plasma pistol/smg combo followed by a smack to the back of the head

though I have officially gotten over Star Wars (Joss Whedon is my master now.
), I have to admit, Lightsabers are cool! Don't run out of Ammo (revolvers) can protect at any distance, and are all super strong. Plus, swords are cooler than guns.

Sticking to the confines of the thread, I'll go with lightsaber. I've wanted one since 1977. Going outside I'd have to say Batman's utility belt. You could carry all the weapons listed here at the same time!

Of these 3? Hmmm...kinda limits my choice.
Lightsaber. A more elegant weapon from a more elegant time.

I think my favorite weapon would have to be my smartass mouth
And don't forget a garish hawaiian shirt in the armor department.
More seriously, I've been a huge fan of Wash's Colt King Cobra ever since War Stories.

Assuming that I were trained in its use, I'd have to go with a lightsabre. First, it can, unlike the others, be used in defense (that is, protecting yourself without killing your opponent, because I suppose that shooting the other guy first might count as defense). And second, it's just so cool: it makes a funny buzzing sound and, even more importantly, it glows so it can double as a flashlight.
Really, I think I'd pick it because it is quite a peaceful weapon (oxymoron, I know), and, being a pacifist myself, I think it would be nice to be able to defend myself without hurting anyone else. If necessary, I suppose I would accept simply incapacitating the enemy - my philosophy is "somewhat fuzzier on the subject of kneecaps" - but it would be nice not to have to.
