Never been much of a gun guy. I'd have to go with a Lightsabre.

I may not be able to deflect lasers blasts with it (no Jedi powers and all), but I could still cut stuff up real good.

Whoa,SMAUG...I completely forgot about the M1a1 pulse rifle. That thing was like 10mm AP...Damned cool looking to boot. I always considered the Grenade Launcher to be a Shotgun, but it actually is a grenade launcher...what? It has a 99 round clip?

On the topic, Robocop's Gun: That Tricked out Beretta 93(aka 93R) Of course, it would only be cool if I was Robocop...which is cool in itself..."Dead or Alive you’re coming with me..." The tracking helmet/infer-red type vision...now we're talking hi tech...

Gotta go with the lightsaber. It's just so graceful, like an extension of your body. After all, blasters are more clumsy, as Obi-Wan once said. Revolvers are just so loud.

As for

, Lucas has said that he actually intended the lightsabers to be extremely heavy. That's why in the original trilogy, the Jedi always hold them with two hands.

Why not all of them? You know, be a weapons master. Have the light saber inside your coat, a revolver strapped to one hip, a blaster to the other, and maybe even throw a regular sword/bow and arrow on your back. Then, kick *ss with a variety of weapons.

"Sir, you actually said 'wink, wink'. I don't think that -"
"Oh, you'd be surprised."

"Yes, the new plan will STILL involve rocket skates."
"YAY!"

Also... for snipering... I would have to go with the rail gun from Eraser.

Smaug..

The hilt may weigh a lot, but according to(gah) (how much more nerdy can I get...) Star Wars: The Essiental Guide to Weapons/Technology by Bill Smith et al ...

The Essential guides have been taken as canon...anything from Lucas does trump them though...

Yeah, so Maugwai I guess Lucas wanted Lightsabres to be like futuristic claymore Swords(requiring both hands) I didn't know that. I always assumed that the lightsabre would be more like a katana/short sword which can be wield with one hand as needed. I guess my simile with the flashlight isn't that good...sorry about that

Of the options given: Lightsaber, with a bright red blade (none of Lucas' "good guys can only use green & blue" crap).

I'm also partial to the Amphistaffs used by the Yuuzhan Vong in the New Jedi Order series. They require more skill (and specialized training) than a saber, but they're way versatile, and their skin is hard enough to withstand lightsaber hits. They're basically "shaped" (i.e., genengineered) serpents, able to function as a whip (if you hold the head), a spiked whip (if you hold the tail), an iron-hard quarterstaff, a short-range acid sprayer (they spit), a spear, or a completely new weapon that functions kinda like a poison-tipped pool noodle (it's like a quaterstaff, but it can flex enough to actually go around most blocks and deliver a highly poisonous bite). In a pinch, it can even serve as a belt.

As you can tell, I'm kinda a hand-to-hand snob.

But my number one dream weapon is the force lance from Andromeda, even if it does look like a sex toy. One end fires self-propelled colonies of nano-effectors ("smart bullets from a smart gun" --Harper), able to do just about anything. They go around corners, seek out chinks in body armour, can intercept incoming fire (effectively shooting enemy bullets out of the air), and function equally well whether the target is the size of a keyhole or an incoming artillery round. In deflection mode, they can be set to auto-fire when they detect incoming fire.

But that's not all: the other end is a variable-use plasma thrower. It can fire energy bolts (not particularly accurate, but really powerful --intended for up close fighting, where the nano-effectors are less. . . effective), or be set for a laser, a welding torch, a small-scale flame-thrower, a stun-gun, a signal flare, or even a flashlight.

It also has a built-in grappling hook.

The weapon can also expand into a two metre long quarterstaff, which retains the functionality of both weapon-ends, while being strong enough to be used in the melee. I've seen one folded to look like a nightstick (with a hand grip on the side), but I don't know if that was a standard lance or a specialized weapon.

The whole thing is genetically coded to a specific user; anyone else gets electrocuted (the stun-gun effect is actually omni-directional), making the quarterstaff a particularly powerful melee weapon (of course, in the hands of a trained Lancer, a staff can be deadly even "turned off").

Best part: the force lance is designed to work with "smart" retinal implants (standard for all High Guard personnel), offering a heads-up-display (to facilitate precision targetting in target-rich environments, and to minimize friendly-fire risk).

As a bonus, there's the static-field generator, a pager-sized bit of tech that generates a dispersion field, neutralizing (and in some cases even reversing) the homing abilities of nano-bullets --your enemies bullets can't hit you, but yours will seek them out.

Whoa Shyte...the Yuuzhan Vong...all that organic tech they got...like the replacement organic eye that shoots acid hairballs or something?

I haven't read many of the New Order books as I pretty much dropped off of star wars ending at the (sigh) Young Jedi Knights series/Darksaber...

Did they ever win against the Jedi or what?

Wow, I'm prolific in this thread...well...almost..
