Hello from a nOOb Firefly fan

Hi all. This is a nice forum. I thought I would say hello and introduce myself.

I'm a very new fan to Firefly. I'm a big Sci-Fi fan but had never seen Firefly as I have no cable. I read great reviews and my friend always raves about it. Also not being a Buffy or Angel fan I was in no rush to watch it.

However I come across the DVD boxset in HMV at an extremly low price and decided to buy it. I then watched 7 episodes that night and 7 episodes the following day and then all the extras. No sci-fi has ever completely blew me away like Firefly. Totally original and like nothing else. The cinematography is amazing and the acting, stories and characters are second to none.

No doubt many things gave been said that it was a complete travesty of justice that Fox dropped this show. The backward thinking mentality and stupidity of these corporate execs absolutely boggles me.

I can tell you when I watched the 'making of' extra on the DVD I got really choked up at the love the actors and Joss Whedon showed towards the show. All I can say is I hope another network picks this show up and backs it,then Firefly can continue.

Firefly is now top of my list. Above Farscape, Babylon 5 and Star Trek. It is the best and most original Sci-FI I have seen for 10 years. I'm now off to watch the DVDs from the begining again.

Welcome to our family. I've been around for a bout a month now and I really like it here so far. Sometimes we argue, sometimes we laugh, sometimes we cry...but that's what a family does. Most of all, we stick together, because that's what Browncoats do!

You should definitely check out the movie Serenity if you haven't already.

Your experience parallels mine almost exactly. And I agree with your sentiments on the disgraceful way this show was treated by Fox.
I'll be pounding on the store door come the 20th to pick up the Serenity DVD.

Thanks for the warm welcome guys. I haven't seen serenity yet but thats next on the cards.

Don't worry I have been spreading the word in work. Boring people with Firefly quotes, which I then laugh to myself about :)

Favourite episode: Out of Gas (this may change after a few more watches of the series)

Favourite character: Kaylee (very cute, very funny and a dab hand with a spanner. You just want to hug her)

Haven't got a favourite quote yet. There are so many classic and funny 1 liners
