Revolvers, Blasters, or Light Sabers...Your weapon of choice?

Ok fellow browncoats, a bit of a silly question here but just for fun.
Project yourself 500 years hence and consider your weapon of choice. (OK not the most seasonal thought I grant you), but just for the sake of fun, given the choice to venture into the black through unchartered solar systems and distant nebulae; what sci-fi weapon would you like by your side, to see you through those, shall we say, "Reaver moments" ?
Revolvers - Firefly?
Blasters - (most sci-fi flicks)?
or Light Sabers - Star Wars?
Please feel free to elaborate on other sci-fi weaponry. I have a limited knowledge of this stuff so... go ahead "learn me something new :D"

Alright...let's open up...sorry for my ramblings....
I do have to admit, a lightsabre would be a cunning type weapon.
-Never really runs of ammo(has no ammo)
-Extremely deadly
-Extremely cool/intimating. Just the sound of one activating would have Reavers wet their human skin pants.
The one thing about a saber that most people don't realize is that the blade has no weight. It's like waving a flashlight around. So you can't wield it like you would a club or a normal sword. It takes years of training and infinity with the Force to be able to use one effectively. The Layman would risk disemboweling themselves in a moment...so if I were a Jedi, oh hells yeah...if not...nope
Actual metal swords would be very cool. Add some modern tech like lightweight alloys and such. Again, it would be the type of weapon you could use on the Borders as you wouldn't have access to ammo. As the Op showed, most people are intimated by a large sword. Unlike the Op, the average smuggler isn't that well trained to get deadly enough with a sword. Yes, Mal beat Ath(Can we call him Ath?) but Mal didn't really beat him in a swordfight, he beat him in a brawl (which isn't a bad thing) Again, like the saber: nifty weapon, but I don't have the time to master one...
On to Ranged weapons
Ah, the blaster/laser/phaser/whatever else you want to call energy weapons. A little easier to use. Point+Shoot=Die.I would have to venture the learning curve on an energy weapons would be better. No recoil, like projectile weapons. Well, maybe it's not that easy. Not even Stormtroopers can use them properly(you shoot like a Stormtrooper is an insult after all) The problem of running out of power becomes obvious, but Solo's Blast-tech did have a capacity of 25 shots. Which is most than enough to settle any firefight. Carry a few magazines and you can reload on the fly in a heavy fight. energy weapons do have the advantage of having a stun/kill setting(At least Star Trek/Star Wars ones do. The Lassiter sure didn't and Burgess ' pistol didn't either. Stunning someone is a lot easier than trying to punch them or shoot them in the legs(hard to do) The Federation seems to have the best energy weapons. Anyone ever seen a phaser run out? Phaser rifles are badass...even those MACO plasma things in Enterprise were cool.

It has been said that Firefly weapons are caseless(despite actually ejecting cases)and don't ask me what Jayne meant when he said "double through gauge" as that means nothing. One would assume Vera just shoots really big bullets. That's the key to projectile weapons: Bigger Bullets=Bigger holes. Most projectile weapons have complicated moving parts(semi autos) but a revolver like Wash/Zoe/Jayne have would be the more reliable type of pistol. Even if sand gets into it, it is less prone to failure than the semis. Oh Yes, I am against Jayne's Movie pistol...give me the Lemat any day. Another Problem with projectile weapons is that they come in a large variety of calibers that getting the right one can be hard. Bullets are also "heavy" if you carry enough of them. However, caseless ammo can make that easier. Mal's Gun(I've heard it was called the Colt SAC for some reason, don't quote me on it) seems like a good balance: large enough capacity(it does have a clip as shown in the pilot and he took out a bunch of patience's men during that fight)I think it's intimating enough, even it Mal isn't holding it. Apparently ammo is easy enough to get as Jayne got "ammoed up" in The Message. Hell, you can reload bullets if you feel so inclined to save a credit or two but I don't recommend it.
So to answer your question:
Give me a Revolver in a quick draw thigh holster just like our Captain and Jayne in the show.

Probably some form of chemical weapon encased within a small orb of ice. As for a weapon used for more direct combat, some form of wrist mounted, easily concealed weapon. Above the wrist a projectile weapon, below the wrist a blade weapon. Oh and shoes with detachable heels filled with explosives.

There's a passage in the first Modesty Blaise book where Willie and Tarrant are discussing weapons and trying to decide which is the most efficient. Willie says something like 'To compare them properly you have to compare them at the maximum efficieny of use' (I can't dig out the book I'm at work).
In which case it has to be the lightsabre everytime. No contest. Assuming it's being used by a trained Jedi nothing else comes close.
You can keep your revolver and I'll parry all your shots and slice you in half.

I'd have to agree with you there Khimba. Plus they look so cool and that whole deflecting lazer blasts just looks "The Ducks Nuts!"
Greycleric08 - that was one hell of a breakdown! Did you ever see the cartoon Ulysees31? He had this light-shield type thing that would deploy from a wrist bracelet (or was it a watch ?) which while not exactly a weapon, was a useful little gizmo. Oh and remember Chewbaca's light-crossbow? Strangely underused; visually anyway.

I'll take a Phased-plasma rifle in the forty watt range. 
Actually you gotta admit that the lightsaber would be the coolest thing to have. But if you actually needed it to actually fight/survive.. then without the jedi powers to go with it.. it would be pretty useless. Anyone with a gun or laser would take you out before you even got close to them.
Hmmm... between a projectile weapon or a laser... hmm... I would HAVE to go with the pulse rifle from aliens. I believe it fires explosive tip projectiles AND it has the grenade launcher!! But also have a much smaller pistol... for close encounters..
But if I could choose ANYTHING.. I would rather be able to kick a** like River!!! Or breath fire..... like a Dragon..
