Awh, this makes me so happy! Greg didn't know about the Flanvention till I told him right beforehand, during an interview. I'm so glad he showed up. Believe me, I made it very clear to him how crazy we are about what he did for the show.

His interview will appear in next week's Firefly Talk.

I'm getting into heaven now.

He was nice enough to sign some CD's for us on Friday for the Food Drive raffle. He mentioned not knowing about the Flanvention until very recently. He wasn't sure he was going to make it, since he was working all weekend. I spoke to him again on Sunday and he decided to show up.

He had never met the cast before and just wanted the chance to tell them how much he enjoyed the show. He said that no matter how many times he watched the show, he never got tired of it. I think that's part of the reason that the music is so special, it didn't seem like it was just a job to him.

Thank you Ethan for being there and sharing what was said. And also for what you said, he truly was an integral part of making the show what it is.

James

Ethan

That was a great story and a great moment. I too am glad that you seized that opportunity... does anyone know how to send a letter to GE? I would like to thank him as well...

I am sorry he was a bit hurt by Nathan having to return to his contractural obligations.. but Edmundson should have no lasting pain.. Nathan has said often and with great sincerity that he is moved by the music.... he said in one of the commentaries that he goes back to watch the episodes just to listen to the music.

With all respect to Newman (who Universal probably selected becausee of his impeccable Hollywood composing pedigree) Edmundson would have been a better choide.. he had the feel..

Thanks again Ethan.

Chindi

Lovely, lovely story. Thank you for sharing...and for sharing feelings with Greg Edmonson that many of us share. I never get tired of listening to the music. It is so rich and many-layered and meaningful and sometimes just plain fun. So, there's going to be an interview on Firefly Talk? Shiny. His interview on The Signal was wonderful--his passion for the 'Verse really comes through. I can't wait to hear it.

It's a two-part interview, actually, you'll get around 30 minutes this coming week and 30 the next week. Greg is a really wonderful guy.

That brought tears to my eyes!

Well done you! For saying what you did. You put it beautifully. Greg's music is fabulous. I don't hate what we got for the BDM but I would still rather Greg had been the composer.

He was really nice, and seemed to love talking to the fans, and he's so modest!

There is a link to this story over at Whedonesque, in which Ravenu adds to the story.

I add my thank you to Greg too. Wish I had met him... but maybe someday.

Music is always important to me and it surely was in this show... I hope Greg sees the posts at Wedonesque...

Chindi with humble thanks for the great score...

Thank you so much for relaying your experience! He contributed so very much to Firefly - it astounds me that more folks don't know/understand how important his music was.

I'm sitting here listening to the soundtrack for the first time. It is amazing!

If you just listened to the soundtrack you would want to see what goes with this brilliant score.
