I don't care if she's on the O.C. I'm not going to watch it. I love her but I just can't watch it.
...And holy crap, I didn't know that about Sean and CSI. Creepifying...
Mal would kick Han Solo's ass.

Oh great, now I gotta watch the fuckin thing.
I hear ya. I have avoided watching the OC at all cost. What possible relevence do those who are too pretty with too much money living fabulous lives have with me? I know such people exist in real life, so why would I care about watching some fictional stories about them? Reminds me of why I loathed Ally McBeal. ' Boo hoo, I'm a thin, attractive female, in a successful career making lots of money, with no kids and living in the big city. I work with other pretty people , all of us making a great living and suddenly are asking 'What is it REALLY all about?', while we dance between the serious world of working in a law firm and acting like college freshamn when it comes to fantasies about the opposite sex. Gee golly, life sure is unfair! '
I'm seriously leaning toward NOT catching Morena on the OC. Let others adore her in that realm, I'll just pop in the DVD again.

" They don't like it when you shoot at 'em. I worked that out myself. "

At the risk of losing my Firefly cred...
I liked The OC when it first came on. Oddly enough, AURaptor, your question was exactly the question the show was asking at the beginning. But I gotta say, that perspective only lasted a few repetitive episodes before the "outsider" became assimilated, the answer to the question not going further than "rich people have problems too, they just have fancier parties".
I don't know, it's kind of odd. The show seems to still try to bring up that perspective, but really only as an obligatory footnote to its wholehearted embracing of the "scene". But my biggest criticism of The OC is that it promises some serious character development, then it just hits the reset button, and after an entire season essentially nothing has changed. Extra characters come into the story, stir up trouble for a few weeks, and then completely and conveniently disappear. It's like that "how to keep an idiot in suspense", but instead it's "how to keep an idiot in soapy angst".
So why do I still watch it? Well, honestly I don't really. But why do I still have it on in the backround while I'm on the computer or cleaning up? Inertia. And, now, Morena Baccarin.

speaking as a lawyer with lots of "thin, attractive" females as friends with no money problems, i have to say, "hey, what's up with the hatin' on the pretty people?" it's, like, you have a case of "attractivism" or something. (wink), just because, to quote mal, "we are so damn pretty." (double wink). and ally mcbeal--hey, i actually liked that show, at least for the first season or two. and even though i'm one of the "pretty people," i even love firefly more.
i mean, if you think about it, the firefly/serenity cast are also eye candy (they ain't ugly ducklings for sure), so someone can say in response to your above comments, "what possible relevance do people who are too pretty in space have for my life? how many mechanics look like kaylee, hello?"
haha, by the way, my post isn't mean-spirited or anything. i just don't get all the hatin' going on around the oc. sure, it's crap, but i actually--shhh, don't tell anyone--got into it for the first season soley for the reason that doug liman (swingers, go, bourne identity, and afterwards, mr. and mrs. smith) directed the pilot. good stuff, by the way. unfortunately, like a lot of shows, it went down in quality. like someone else on this thread, after the "outsider gets assimilated" plot happened, i lost serious interest. my girlfriend and her roommate are still into it, so i manage to catch it now and then in bits and pieces, and although it's crap, it's better than average crap, especially in the dialogue department. a lot of the dialogue comes across as whedonspeak to me, so it's kinda nice.
anyway, not a regular o.c watcher now, but it'll be nice to see morena on tv again. like the rest of the o.c. cast, she sure is purdy...hell, in fact, she'll be the purdiest one there.
