Favorite Firefly/Serenity Moment

I have to offer this one just because it hasn't been mentioned yet:
Heart of Gold, the exchange between Mal and Inara at the very end. Ouch. The look in Mal's eyes when she says she's leaving, you can almost see his heart on the floor with a big footprint in it. Great stuff.

the bit in war stories, just before Niska comes in, they're still blindfolded and screaming at each other so close up, and Mal reveals that Zoe wen't against him when deciding to marry Wash, i dunno, it just sticks out in my mind,
but my absolute favorite is the end of Out of Gas, Mal's seeing Serenity for the first time - it made everything, even the theme song, make absolute perfect sense.
The structuring of that show was just awesome, and the music, the use of the voiceovers and repetition, it was actually breath snatching.
And for all the wrong reasons, the bit in heart of gold when the bad guy has just snatched the baby, he come's out the door, turns to face the camera - and its a plastic doll.
If that had been any other show i would have instantly been ripping the piss, the fact that I could see it and not think at all negatively of the show just proves how damn brilliant the whole thing is.

The first moment that comes to mind for me is from the BDM:
In the bank robbery, when River points out the guy with the gun and Zoe says something like 'What, that one?' and River looks at Zoe and pulls a 'tcha' face. Was the first time she'd looked like a bratty teenager, touching and funny.
Here's the face for all those struggling to recall...

Love threads like this - remind me of how truly great this series was. Been scrolling through this thread going "That one! - No wait, that one. Or maybe that one..."
Thought the scene that made me fall in love with firefly for the very first time is worth a mention. It's the dance during the teaser - the beautiful haunting music, the hilariously drunk Mal and Jayne, Wash and Zoe snuggling and peaceful in the firelight.... Bam. In love.
Honourable mention to 'Safe' (as I seem to be the sole Safe-ophile). Simon and River about to be burned at the stake. How that relationship manages to come across as achingly beautiful and not at all creepy is a mystery to me. When River says "time to go" and the wind from the spaceship ruffles her hair, my heart just lifts. No idea why.

To me, this scene sums up the entire series. So, without further adieu:
Mal- "Well look at this. 'Appears we got here just in the nick of time. What does that make us?"
Zoe- "Big damn heroes, sir."
Mal- "Aint we just. Sorry to interrupt folks, but y'all got something that belongs to us, and we'd like it back."
Patron- "This is a holy cleansing, you cannot think to thwart gods will"
Mal-"Y'all see the man hangin' out of the spaceship with the really big gun? Now I'm not saying you weren't easy to find, but it was kind've out of our way and he didn't wanna come in the first place. Man's lookin' to kill some folks. So really, it's his will y'all should worry about thwarting.
Gotta say, doctor, your talent for alienating folks is near miraculous."
Simon- "Yes, I'm very proud."
Mal- "Cut her down."
Patron- "The girl is a witch."
Mal- "Yeah, but she's our witch. So cut her the hell down."

okay, there's just way too many, so i'm gonna have to pick one from each ep:
Serenity (pilot)- Mal and Kaylee when she is on the bed in the Infirmary. "You are a good man Cap'n". this includes the whole "That man is psychotic" thing.
The Train Job- "If you die can i have your cut?"
Bushwhacked- the basketball game at the beginning.
Shindig- "I got stabbed!" Oh so noble!!!!
Safe- "Big Damn Heroes Sir!"
Our Mrs Reynolds- "I call her Vera" *drool*
Jaynestown- "It doesn't matter. It'll be there. Waiting"
Out of Gas- "Y'all gonna be here when i wake up?"
Ariel- Jayne at the end. "Make sommat up. Don't tell em what i did."
War Stories- Simon and River after she throws up. "I walk, i function like i'm a girl. I hate because i know it'll go away..." breaks my heart.
Trash- "I can kill you with my brain"
The Message- "Literally the the only girl in the world". Oh Simon!!!
Heart of Gold- "Coz i'm Pretty?"
Objects in Space- my fave ep. no way i can choose just one.
i know i'm naughty, but i just can't choose between all them.

Yeah that one and when she is on Early's ship:

The cut to the crew when you see their reaction to that, when they realise how alone and sad she is at not being accepted as one of the crew because of her problems.

The bit in HoG, when Mal says to Inara:

I just think that bit is so damn hilarious, and also wash's thumbs-up someone mentioned before.
