I just got an email with a special from amazon.com saying that "it's now in paperback" and the price is $13.57

Was it actually available as a hardback? If so, it doesn't look like you can get it that way anymore, and if that's the case, I'll be angry at myself for not buying it sooner!

Hmm, I think I might have answered my own question... doesn't look like the book was ever a hardback. Someone correct me if I'm wrong though!

Well, it is officially neither. It's what would be refered to as "softback." It's pretty much just upscale paperback.

Worked at Barnes & Noble for awhile.

Here's one:

In Serenity (pilot, not BDM) when Mal first talks about going to Patience-the exchange with Zoe about getting shot "a bit" and then later after he talks to her and says something like, "You know, I do believe she's planning to shoot me again." Great delivery and I really like how it works in the larger scheme of characterization too.

I don't know what you're planning on doing, but if you're wondering whether or not to pick the book up (and to my knowledge a hardback version of it never existed) then definitely pick it up! I paid $20 for mine, but it is worth every penny and every dime. $13 or so is a steal!
