I saw this on a news site earlier today, why is it taking you guys so long to see this! This is big news! SERENITY SEQUAL! I mean, come one! It's happening! Sure it might be direct to t.v, but that'll give it more of a Firefly feel any way.

Anyway, Here's my plan...
Fox still owns the rights to the name Firefly, so make a series for SciFi (owned by Universal) called 'Serenity.' Instead of just a second film it'll be back...

I don't know that they'd be able to do that given all the legal technicalities involved, but who knows what the rules are pertaining to a mini series! Surely SciFi would get a better turn out than they did for Children of Dune or Earthsea. Still I'm sure though that Universal would rather test the TV waters with a made for TV movie anyways. I wonder how much a made for TV movie would cost if they cut the production back to something near the original series(40minutes=2 million dollars).

And to think I was just happy to hear that they were planning 2 or 3 verse novels...

Whedon is denying it.
I mean, if it were for real, he would be saying "No comment" or giving us some teaser hint that it might happen.
It's a rumor at this point, nothing more.

Besides, with the DISASTER that Sci-Fi made of Earthsea, do we want them pawing over Serenity?????

'Cause we already saw it... it was posted in at least three different threads last week. And as has been stated, it's currently being denied by Joss's reps.

Of course talk of a sequel is a good thing - it keeps the name out there at least!

Check back through the boards, there have been a few threads about this since the start of the month. I just put it down to IGN's usually bullshitting with rumours so that if they actually turn out to be true they can say "SEE!! We knew ALL along!"
