Haidon... if your flight lands you in LA, go have a look around. BUT, grab the first available bus out of there and take a crosscountry tour. Throw on a pair of jeans and a T-shirt, drop off the standard route, just drop out altogether, and go see the real deal. LA is the over-marketed gate of Disneyland. The real Utopia is off the map. No tour guides can lead you in that direction.

I agree, 'tis beautiful. Also noteworthy is a recent demographic study which revealed the average age of a Victorian resident is "expired of natural causes at a very old age".
Folks on this thread are by and large so very nice. How can this be? Were y'all traumatised into it by terrifying space monkeys?

I enslaved the Space Monkeys and trained them in the arts of the Ninja, does that count?

Hey we may have our differences, but I'm going to agree with you on this one XG.

Not me. Don't like Wasabi, don't eat sushi. I can tolerate some hot foods but most just give me sores on the inside of my mouth, so I avoid them. And I felt sick the whole rest of the day from the horseradish. Never again.

I've been to Moscow, St. Petersburg and Kiev and enjoyed being able to sit in a restaurant, drink and eat with friends and new acquaintances and not have the waitress be in a hurry to get us out of the restaurant. That's one of the differences about that part of the world. Going out to eat is still an event that everyone takes their time doing, so you can sit back, chew your food slowly and enjoy the company of you compatriots without the waitress putting the check down on the table before you're done eating or immediately after you put the last bite in your mouth.
I also like the souvenirs from there.
As for where I would like to go, I would like to see those countries that I fly over to get to Russia and Ukraine.

Hmm, Where I'd like to go:
Back to Germany for the Oktoberfest would be great.
Or back to Oz to see the family.
I've always wanted to go on a world tour, just drive through europe and asia and workout how to make my car go over water.

This floor promised shoes, and so far nothing!
well, here they are, I'd like to announce the arrival of my brand new pretty's - they're antique gold coloured with pointed toes and the cutest little kitten heels, low sided so you get the tiniest bit of arch showing and just loose enough that they occaisionally slip off and dangle louche-ly from the toes.
its just foot bliss, they are getting worn for every party this season, especially as they are the exact right shade to complement my kimono jacket and my green dress, oh i'm in shoe heaven!
Ahem, ok, i'm done now.
