Well it's damn faithful to the book and not for the faint of heart, but if you like Hunter S. Thompsen than you are in for a real treat. It makes the earlier movie done on the same vein Where the Buffalo Roam by Ivan Reitman look like a Disney flick. Let me rephrase that Disney makes all kind of movies now. I was a kid in the 70's back when Disney movie would offend no one exception racial, ethnic and religious minorities. Let's just say that Ivan Reitman never left you wondering if the was going to be a happy ending as you saw Ghostbusters for the first time. Gilliam makes no such promises. Oh Yeah! Johnny Dep is fantastic in this, as is Benicio Del Toro.

Whoa, too much lunch! I need a BIG spot on the sofa. Move over!

Fear and loathing, fun! I saw it in a really weird theater in Alaska, it made perfect sense.

What's Equilibrium? Never heard of it! Yay - new entertainment discovery!!

Ask Dr. Science ... he knows more than you do.

I'm on the East Coast (NC, to be exact). It's 1:30 in the afternoon here.

Equilibrium is sort of a cross between Fahrenheit 451, 1984, and The Matrix. It proves that Christian Bale should've played Neo.

*wakes up, yawns, stretches*

Ooh, it's nice in here.

Orpheus, you're in NC? Wanna come it my New Year's Eve party?

(Everyone's invited! I even have a thread.)

Now, if I ask nicely would someone bring me something to drink? My plan is to stay curled up in this couch until the weekend.

I'm sure BLackeyegirl is allready typing like mad and we will probably overlap, but what the hell.
Equalibrium is a fantastic film, made in Germany a couple years ago on a small budget. Don't worry it's in English so you won't have to squint at subtitles. It stars Christian Bale. One of the best underrated actors working today. Bale plays a elite police enforcer in a world where emotions are illegal. This film is the finest example of science fiction used as social commentary I have seen since Fahrenheit 451. It is not a completely original work, watching it you will see elements of so many other movies and books, but that decreases it's message not a whit. It's one of those few films I think everyone should see once they consider themselves a adult. It's heavy, so not for the kids.
