What quote? I'm lost. "Like whoa" is a quote? Help.
Further help, if you would be so kind, as this is the first chat thread thingy I have spent any time at all on...what is a troll? What is lurking?

Like Whoa.
American teenager speak. The sentence should be "Firefly is rather good."
You have to imagine you're walking along casually and you see something extraordinary, and it makes you stop and say Whoa! out of sheer surprise.
"Like" and "man" can be, like, dropped into any sentence and it will transform it into something Keanu Reeves night say.
Like, something is rotten in the state of Denmark,
man.
Also they do a lot of quality Whoas in Firefly. (Good Bible, Good Myth, and Zoe of all people, with Book's hair).
I do believe the phrase Whoa has been made cool again by Firefly. It started out well with the Fonz, was quite good with Bill and Ted, but became like so overused for a while.
However, well delivered, it is good.
Lurking is hanging around threads, but not joining in. An innoffensive pastime.
Trolls.
The Internet gives people with nothing to say an unparalelled opportunity to prove it conclusively. I can't remember who coined that phrase, but I wish it had been me.
Trolls are idiots who jump into threads and act badly. Know them by their bad spelling, and lack of manners. Ignore them and they go away.
You'll soon pick up the jargon, at which point you'll realise that you're spending too much time in front of a computer...

I thank you very kindly! I now posess the vernacular to say that I have been lurking on this site since late summer, when I first encountered Firefly. Which, by the way, ought to come with the disclaimer, "Well-developed, tightly written, very intelligent content, of which there is not near enough. May cause loss of productivity and of interest in other arenas of life."
I still don't understand what the original poster meant by "I copy(sic)& pasted that quote," but I don't think it's imperative that I do, so...onwego.

The 'bible' quote at the end of all of JLSM's posts is what she (I seem remember the name Jen, so I'm going with she) was talking about.

I almost got mad at this, but then realized that I listen to too much music.
'Like whoa' is from a song. A very good song. o.o
And yes, I did mean my sig-quote when I said that.

Ah, thank you! Now I understand! You called it a quote, (and while I have heard plenty of people say "That was like, whoa," I'd hardly consider it a quoteworthy or notable statement) which indeed it is, because you were quoting a song you know that I don't. I know that was a weeeency little thing but I'm glad to have it cleared up. Whose song, please?
Back to Firefly, my copy of Finding Serenity finally arrived and I'm enjoying it more than I expected to.
