Myself, Gwek, and the others who have joined the staff are hard at work. Even though the original idea was to take the events of the movie and tell them over the course of 22 episodes, we have decided to first go back and finish out the final 7 episodes of Season 1. Our current release plan is to use this board to release our 7 Season 1 eps, and later move them to a 'Virtual Firefly' website, which is where we'll be releasing our Season 2 episodes (we'll also be posting them here, but by going to the website you'll get 'special features' such as opening credits and such).

To give an update, here's where we stand:
As our producer states, our fist order of business is to complete Season 1 with 7 episodes (bringing it to a full 22 episodes). The overall flow of this arc has been disussed, as well as the plots of individual episodes. Writers are assigned to all episodes, so we'll be seeing scripts pretty soon.
We've already settled on the overall flow of the first arc for the first eight or so episodes of Season 2, so as soon as S1 is finished, we'll roll right on into writing scripts for S2.
We'll discuss internally when you folks will start seeing something and digificwriter or I will try to post an announcement sometime in the new future.

It's possible I could do a bit of writing for you guys.
Actually, I've been toying around with an idea I had for a fan-fic that would probably be in about four episodes in length. Possibly using it as a cliff-hanger for the end of season one and the first couple of episodes of seasson two.
Basically, the crew finds news over The Cortex that one or both of the elder Tams have died and Mal, in a moment of kindness, agrees to try to get them covertly to the funeral services. After the service, the crowd disperses and River and Simon aproach the grave with the captain and another crew member (undecided as to who) and its then that they all get nabbed by the Blue Hands and a bunch of Federals.
Opening up in the next episode we find Mal, Simon, and whoever else locked up in an Alliance prison awaiting trial while River has been put into extremely solitary confinement and is being shecked over and having early tests run on her to get put back into Mathias's program. The rest of the story-line focuses on the independent efforts of the incarcerated crew to escape and the free crew to try to break them out.

Dracos, in keeping with the way Whedon normally does things, we're trying to stick primarily with standalone episodes (with character and/or minor plot threads running through them).
