Just was wondering about the name Early in the episode Objects in Space. If his name was taken from the vice president of Fox Programming...if so, is makes so much sense, any ideas....
Found the name Early in the book Finding Serenity: with letters he wrote Joss Whedon about Firefly and so forth...interesting reading

Oh. That's a curious bit of trivia! Wouldn't put it past Joss- Early trying to destroy the sanctity of Serenity!

Actually, if I remember it correctly, Jubal Early was a general in the American Civil War. And, if The Signal is right, an ancestor of one Nathan Fillion.

Jubal Early was a Confederate general in the Civil War, leading important attacks at Chancellorsville and later battles. If I hear correctly, it was Fillion's idea that the bounty hunter be named Early, as he is a descendent of the general.
"That's why I never kiss them on the mouth."
"When do I get to get sexed up?!"
"This is my most favorite-est gun..."
