I just picked up the Margaret Weis Productions RPG. Nice package, good read. Haven't run it yet, so I can't comment on playability, but I did notice one itsy-bitsy design deficiency: no character sheets!

I suppose I could locate some generic sheets, or modify something from some other RPG, but I'm both unskilled at graphic design and fundamentally lazy. Has someone else out there already dealt with this problem, and if so, are you willing to share with your fellow browncoats?

Character sheets were sacrificed in the book for the sake of space, with the plan being that the sheets would be available for download via the Serenity RPG website.

Plans being as they are (i.e. not going smooth) official character sheets are as yet not available. However, some industrious and creative fans have put together a nice variety of styles and you can access them through the official Serenity RPG website:

www.serenityrpg.com

At some point official character sheets will be available. Also, the "QuickDraw" version of the RPG is still an item Jamie wants to offer. Basically it's a matter of time and resources. There's a dedicated, but smallish, band of folks behind the Serenity RPG... so all things come as soon as the time can be carved away from other work deadlines.

I'd especially like to see the QuickDraw version of the game happen. It will be a great way for folks new to RPGs to get started... plus it'll be all black & white and guerilla art looking... and FREE for download. Doesn't get much cooler than that!

Check out the Serenity_Crew group at yahoo groups. The folks there have alot of great things for the RPG. You have to register for the group, but that is nothing, then go to the files and you can download everything from character sheets to ship specs.

I'm going to be copying a little off of other folks' ideas, but mostly creating my own character sheet later on... Our group's been doing DnD for a while now, so I'm thinking something layed out to make for an easy transition and all.

But yeah, that'll be a while before I finish something like that up. I'm wondering, though, what kind of things do you think are most important with the character sheet? Separating all attributes/skills/traits sections? Detail under the traits/skills? Quick rules explanations--like what Plot Points can do, or what you can do in a fight? Or having a lot of die-totals on there--like the Endurance check (Vit+Will) already added up--to make it easier to refer to?

I'm just brainstorming at the moment... Trying to gather some ideas on what to fit in without overdoing it. KF

I've got a nice beta character sheet at the aforementioned Serenity_Crew yahoo group. It's an alliance-style sheet made to look like a cortex page.

(Also posted is my take on an RPG-able map of the 'verse in PDF format. Not scientific, and definitely not canon, but it works for the game.)

That's because I re-uploaded it elsewhere under another name. Check the "Character Sheet Beta -- Feedback Appreciated" thread for that.

I'm still working on it (no less!). If you have any suggestions then I'm willing to hear them. I'll upload a finished version -- plus a black-and-white version of each type (with and without lifebar) -- later on, probably tonight. But I'm still up for suggestions after the fact. KF
